I usually avoid the non-moe tag, but this art actually looks quite nice.

Besides that, this can't be the Edo period as that's the period between 1603 and 1868 (in the history of Japan) while Yang Guifei lived from 719 to 756. If anything, it would be the Nara period.

Other trivia:
The pool referenced here is called the Huaqing Pool. Yang Guifei was granted use of the Huaqing Pool which had been the exclusive private pool of previous Tang emperors.

She was briefly married to a prince (at 14 years old), but because the prince's dad (aka the emperor) fancied her, the emperor forced her to become a Taoist nun while he gave his son a new wife. Then the emperor made her his consort.

Also, she one of the Four Great Beauties (of China).

There's rumors that she was rescued from a certain fatal fate and fled to Japan and renamed herself Yohiki.

x2! And this is why I wish it were easier to find books about Chinese history pre-communism China outside of the Boxer Rebellion. Seriously, go to a bookstore and you will see most book are focused on Communist China and those that are not are usually about the Boxer Rebellion. Used bookstores don't count because they have all kinds of shit.

Cool little piece otherwise. Nice artwork as well. Wish we got more of these.

Classical Chinese works translated are hard to come by. However, the Four Classics should be translated and easily found on public domain. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is relatively historical and there are online databases to give background and historical information. Many portions of Shiji have been translated in the public domain and are easily accessible.

This is a nice piece. I really am digging the non-moe tag, it tends to be less school girls with crushes. (not that there's anything wrong with that, but variety is the spice of life)
