Personally, I feel that as long as there's no evidence to disprove it, in the anime Reina and Kumiko do have feelings for each other. It may be different from the LN but works do diverge from there original source. They're separate bodies of work. Even if one is the source material, they're both official published work; one is no more canon than the other.
