By the way, this is a bit of a necro-post here, but I think it's important.
Meiling says "Kurenai Sakuya" on page 9. This is because "Hong Meiling" is the Chinese reading of "紅美鈴". In Japanese, this can be read as "Kurenai Misuzu".
And I've double checked the japanese original, and Meiling says "Kurenai" in Katakana (to be absolutely clear).
In other words: Sakuya took the characters in Meiling's surname here, but uses the Japanese "Kurenai" instead of the Chinese "Hong".
I have no idea if this is standard practice or not for when Chinese and Japanese people get married.
