I don't think just because there's sometimes issues with human workers that it's good to replace them all with ai. Instead it's better to work through the human issues and continue to hire human employees. Humans are also capable of understanding and nuance that ai isn't, and additionally ai is run by fascist losers that only seek to make themselves richer not make anything better. Also even by association you're dying on the same ai slop hill that bigots that think "ai translations will make media no longer woke" are, so that's certainly a choice.

As for "what happened to the series", I think the anime actually pretty much caught up with the manga by the end of S2 (which I think was a fantastic example of an academy/school arc done well), corresponding to manga chapter 95, and the manga has been slow to continue since. I guess it's somewhere in the 110s, so barely enough content for a new season, if that.
If it ever comes to that, I'll definitely gobble it up.
