The academic term I've heard is gender detachment. Nobody gets assigned non-binary, and transitioning is a huge hassle. There will always be folks who aren't invested enough to bother.

Probably true, to some extent. Even the far-right macho men types felt the need to invent a system for breaking down and classifying masculinity beyond just being a binary with femininity. It's almost like the hard gender binary they claim is fact doesn't actually exist.

We know of a cluster of sensations and emotions that are alleviated when trans people transition, which is commonly summarized as gender dysphoria, and gender euphoria, a related "opposite" cluster that is brought about by transition. And the evidence is at this point overwhelming, that no incentive or benefit (financial, romantic, etc.) can compare to these. Which contradicts you saying that, as a cis man, having to live as a woman would be a mere inconvenience for you that you'd just power through for the right reward.

What we actually know is that some people feel dysphoria, and euphoria on transition. That does not mean that every non-trans person would feel dysphoria if they magically transitioned. Genderfluidity exists, and what some dub "gendercasual".

Quite a bunch of people think that they wouldn't care much if they woke up as the opposite sex, without feeling any urge to actually explore it in reality. Whether they're correct or not is untestable, since we can't do scenarios like the manga's.

I addressed that in my next paragraph. I never said gender-fluidity was not real. I was trying to criticize the framework the person I quoted was using to speculate about the main character's gender.

If a boy suffers zero psychological stress from "pretending" to be a girl, for the rest of his life, then how does his gender identity affect anything? "I'm a cis man and I wouldn't care" is only a partial answer. What about other cis men, are most of them gender-fluid or gender-agnostic? And if they are, what does that say about the concept of cisness, about gender identity?

If there are cis men in our world who only identify as such only due to inertia, just going with the flow, then why not the inverse of this? If Yuuri ends up going with the flow, accepting his new life where people treat him as a girl, what will be the distinction between him and a cis girl who is also just going with the flow?

I know some (a lot of?) people get uncomfortable when the discussion gets deeper than the surface level ("what if magical sex-reassignment in real life"), and that's why I'm trying to push on the weak points of the arguments I see.

When I finally decided to transition towards female, it was because I realized I had three reasons that were each independently big enough to warrant transitioning on their own. #1 was the cognitive handicap that was testosterone, #2 was being morally repulsed by masculinity, and way down in #3 was bodily dysphoria. Less personally, transgender and nonbinary are overlapping categories, with it being a fairly common occurrence for someone to realize one of the two labels applies to them several years ahead of embracing the other. If anything, I would say the trans community is strong evidence that yes, gender is almost entirely a social construct. Being also an atheist, the way so many cis people get self-righteously indignant when their gender is questioned is the same as how so many religious folks get when their religion is questioned, leading me to suspect it's cognitive dissonance here too.

People are indoctrinated from birth to believe that gender is innate and binary, so of course people are going to frame their personal experience in that light regardless of whether it's true. At least not unless they've done some serious deconstructing - and wouldn't you know it, trans spaces are among the few where you can consistently find people critically examining gender as a concept. I don't doubt that there would be people who would still embrace and aspire towards a gender even without indoctrination, but I'm not convinced they're actually the majority.

I know you don't mean anything bad by this, but there's a reason "Do not ask, plead, or beg for more or quicker releases" is a forum rule. Scanlators put in a lot of effort for zero monetary reward and it's rude to ask them to work even harder for the same amount of money (none). Please don't do this in the future.
