Alright, for those who didn't read it yet some things to know about Witchcraft Works, the main characters are Honoka and Ayaka, Honoka have a sister named Kasumi, their mothers Komachi and Kazane were a couple in school, but since typical japanese bullshit says girls can't marry girls, they broke up to have children, Honoka and Ayaka, so they can marry each other, Honoka and Kasumi father is mentioned sometimes, but we never see him and don't even know his name, from what I remember Ayaka father is never mentioned.
Now massive spoilers for chapter 42: some things happen and Honoka see part of the Kanaze past, it shows that one day Komachi was mortally wounded, so Kazane asked for Shiori help, but even she couldn't help Komachi and she would die anyway, so Kazane cuts her own wrist and use her blood to save Komachi, but since she's basically the most powerfull witch in the world, a End Witch, this is against their rules and would have serious consequences, she ask for Shiori to erase that day from everyone memories in the city.
7 years later Kazane comes to visit Shiori, who mentions that Komachi had two child, after seen Komachi and her children she starts to talk with Shiori again, and she mention that for the future prospects of Honoka she made a childhood friend who would stay by his side and support him, some pages later shows Kazane talking with Shiori again, and Shiori mention that unlike Komachi and Kasumi, Honoka became the sucessor to her blood, and there end the relevant parts.
The important details in this chapter, Kazane and Shiori are the only ones in the city that don't have their memories manipulated and they never mention Honoka and Kasumi father, Kazane says she made Ayaka not that she had, and that Honoka basically inherited Kazane blood, if you read the manga you'll notice that Honoka have the same face as Kazane, it's pretty obvious that maybe the mangaka is aiming for the plot twist that everyone still have their memory manipulated to believe that Honoka and Kasumi father exists somewhere, but in truth Kazane is their "father" thanks to using her own blood to save Komachi and that Ayaka is not really her daughter but an artificial human made to take care of Honoka since Vermillion is inside him.
And that's basically it, of course it's not certain but I'm pretty sure eventually we'll have some Kazane x Komachi and that their break up was all fake, but it might take some time since it's one chapter for month and the story is about Honoka and Ayaka and don't looks like the manga will end for some years, thanks to that chapter I'll read the entire manga and upcoming chapters, so if we have any more signals that this will happen I'll let you guys know. o7
