Blonde sees guy and girl together, is enraptured by the girl. Ends up stealing the guy away so they'll have at least that in common, and does what she can to learn little bits about her. When girl phones the guy, she intercepts the call and goes in her place, in an attempt to make contact.

Seems like the guy is basically just a tool to get closer to the girl, even if it's being hated by her.

Dude, it's totally possible. There's a webtoon on here where two girls hook up after meeting each other while one of them was on a date with a guy that the other one was dating. Don't let you dreams be dreams!
