I wonder if this will go the poly route, it really seems like it's geared for it.

Mei seems to have a bit of an uphill battle if she really is hoping to date Riri here

Reminds me a lot of one of my favorite oneshots, Suzuki Senpai's ∞. Just in concept, at least.

I hope this isn't another poly one, this idea is so interesting and it feels like it always ends in poly as the most surface level appeasement. We'll see, I'd much rather the protag not end up with anyone or someone else.

This was just a twoshot AFAIK; these chapters came out in 2022 and I don’t know if there were ever any plans to continue it.

I don't think there's that many poly endings out there, but maybe I missed some lol

Thanks for the heads up!

I just meant with this premise. There's another series where the protagonist "sees love" and it ended in poly and it was very unsatisfying imo. I can appreciate poly when done well but when it stems from a love triangle like this it often feels stilted and unnatural, they try to say haha look their love triangle turned into loving each other but it just feels like a cheap out without substance or nuance poly deserves.

Do you mean the one with the arrows shaped like hearts? That ended monogamous, I thought. Is there another like this I'm unaware of?

Well I don't mind happy "everyone wins" endings when they do happen myself, and they just don't feel that common to me. That said I do think it would be good to also have more series going for poly from the start and are fleshed out in that dynamic.

I don't mind the idea, but a lot of love triangle or harem stories are built on the conflict of "securing" a monogamous relationship with the main interest(s). It can end up being very jarring and noticeable when authors execute a poly ending poorly, as it can feel like it undermines the whole conflict of the work, especially if it's accepted fairly easily.

Real poly relationships require a lot of work, communication, and trust, and as a poly person myself I'd much rather see that explored than see my orientation used as a cop out because the author didn't want anyone to "lose".

That's understandable, personally though I enjoy my happy endings where everyone wins no matter how many people tell me how they're lazy cop outs most of the time lol

I enjoy what I enjoy and people can hate them all that they want, I'm not going to stop enjoying happy endings like that just because other people hate them.

People complaining about "too many poly endings" should check the poly tag vs the love triangle tag and see just how common poly endings actually are lmao.

That said, I instantly got my hopes up for a poly ending only to be immediately crushed by the knowledge that there's no more chapters ever lmao. I just keep doing this to myself
