It kills me j-novel almost licensed the novels but instead went with earl and fairy saying modern yuri fans might not like Maria's type of yuri and that it is mostly already done from fan translations(it's not) and the anime covered most it (It doesn't.).

I don’t blame them, the novel has 37 volumes, for a manga it’s not a problem, but for a novel it's a terrifying number to bet on

Actually, the anime does cover most of the novels, up to and including volume 27. There are some minor stories left out, but the mainline story is mostly there. The novels have been fan-translated until volume 34, but he translations vary wildly in quality.

Marimite is still one of my all-time favorites, even though the ending leaves me a rather frustrated.

Shimako is good and the nun plot made me mad. She needs to be happy.

The reason why I hate most Class S stuff. All the "yuri" shown in them is always meant to be a play relationship that will end as soon as they leave school and find a man. Sei is pretty much the only one that actively rebels against it and is unapologetically gay. Everyone else either quietly accepts it or throws a bit of a fuss but then gives up immediately (Yumi).

Earl and Fairy has 33 volumes and aged horribly. People were complaing about the content right from the start of the first volume.

The reason why I hate most Class S stuff. All the "yuri" shown in them is always meant to be a play relationship that will end as soon as they leave school and find a man. Supposedly the spin off at Yuki's school is more physically gay as Kashiwagi actually kissed Yuki at one point. Also Kashiwagi was actually imagining Yuki is a Lillian uniform while waiting at the gate only for Yumi to show up and leave him very confused. This is second hand information mind you.

Personally the way Marimite ended felt like the author was just tired of writing it and had been set for things between Yumi and Sachiko and Noriko and Shimako to progress. It was made pretty clear Yumi's orientation from describing Sachiko when describing her ideal partner to watching her undress before realizing what she was doing.

I know, that’s why I said it’s a 50/50 bet, they shouldn’t have licenced Earl and Fairy either. The only long novels that work are stuff like SAO or Ascendance of a Bookworm
