So are we to take it she simply never came back to school and made a clean break…or that she took a more extreme ending?

It did seem like she was might have been finishing up business in a morbid sense with the post-manic compliments, honorifics dropping, and promises to explain everything at a later date.

I don't remember this work well and I haven't read 14sai or whatever the original is.

Is the nurse likely Bad or is this all some massive misunderstanding? I remember getting big "paranoid delusion" vibes from the "go spy on her" girl who just got her glasses broken.

As far as I remember 14-sai, the nurse was in love with another female teacher (who was also her childhood friend?) who didn't see her that way at all and was more interested in the singing shota (see the other spin-off, Harmony)

The nurse was very abrasive and bitter because of her unrequited love. Shiki, the other lesbian with an unrequited love, built something toxic with the nurse after finding in her a kindred spirit.

Shiki is definitely a psycho lesbian and Haijima doesn't like her, but can't seem to get rid of her.

The events in Reliance take place in their last year of middle school.

i read through 14sai not that long ago, and i should probably double check, but... this feels like a massive tone shift. like these are basically just different characters? or some kind of weird AU. reliance made more sense to me before i checked out the source work. it's honestly baffling.

14-sai was a light-hearted romcom with various side couples, sometimes a bit controversial (age gap, stalkers, obsessive characters...) but it didn't stray too far from its premise.

Reliance started 12 years later and probably the author wanted something darker for this one? It wasn't even published in the magazine, it was web-only, except maybe a couple chapters.
