So the Naruto manga is ending finally does anyone care?

Yes I do... I've followed this manga for a long time so I'll be a bit sad to see it end.

Oh! lemme see... I'm reading
Boku Girl: I can't even say if this is yaoi, yuri, het or what but is very well made (I believe at the end of the year it will
have anime).

Boku no Hero: Awesome manga that could very well fill the void left by Naruto with very nice art, action and fun!

Cherry Boy, that Girl: Korean Manga with many love complications but very very recomendable!

Kuro: Full color manga about a little girl and her monster cat... it gets darker and darker with each chapter.

Onepunch-man: HOLY FRIGGING BADASSSSSS!!

Tokyo Ghoul / Re: Not sure about the second part yet but the first one was pretty cool (the anime ... nope)

gintama: Kagura is so cool, Gin is sooo cool!

Fairy Tail: Is funny!! And Fairy Tail 0 ... We will see, but so far I love it.

I don't feel the need to mention any yuri manga here... We all love yuri and we know it very well XD

How did I originally miss this thread! Some decent recommendations here and it's nice to see some others having the same favorites as I.

Yes I do... I've followed this manga for a long time so I'll be a bit sad to see it end.

It was really stupid at the end. I mean, DBZ levels of stupid. It was a great setting that honestly, totally went down the crapper after the time skip. Not to mention so many characters were horribly written.

Nezchan

Aria/Aqua Pure scenery porn about cute girls piloting gondolas in a Venice transplanted to Mars, now a water world. Mostly slice-of-life SF with a hint of mysticism.

One of my all-time favorites right alongside YKK. That ending really snuck up on me, I'm not gonna lie, I got a bit misty eyed. Reading the manga gets 100 times better when you put the anime's soundtrack on in the background lol.

Ghost Hunt Story about a girl who becomes a part-time worker with a psychic investigation team, and eventually finds herself developing abilities of her own. Good character interaction and lots of spooky stuff.

I watched the anime and the Bloodstained Labyrinth arc scared the crap outta me. (I went to bed with the lights on for a whole week after watching that arc, no joke.) How is the manga in comparison?

Mushishi Do I really need to describe this?

Adore the anime and I just started reading this recently, I'm really looking forward to it.

XXXholic I love this one, a take on the "sorcerer's apprentice" concept that makes Harry Potter look shallow. Plus, Watanuki is both funnier and more appealing than Harry.

Saw the anime and enjoyed it. Does the manga go further?

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou Like Aria, scenery porn in its purest form. I could look at some of those panels all day. Sweet, lovely apocalypse story set during the slow, calm descent of humanity. No panic, no regret, just one long contented sigh.

Freakin LOVE this one!! Such a great read from beginning to end. The OVA was pretty good too, I just wish it was properly made into a show with the same art style and music from the OVAs.

My personal favorites:

Great Teacher Onizuka - First manga I ever read and it had me in freakin tears. Basically, an ex-biker gang leader decides to become a high school teacher and is put in charge of the most unruly class at a private school. Hilarity ensues with a few good bouts of drama thrown in for good measure.

Angel Densetsu - Created by the guy who did Claymore. It's about a high school boy who has the face of a demon/devil/super evil dude and is mistaken at his new school for a gang leader, murderer, hard core druggie and etc. It has moments of action, some drama, lots of comedy, and a pretty solid cast of female and male characters. A personal favorite of mine. (I think, I shall start rereading this one now.)

One Piece - I don't think I have to explain the story about this one since it's so friggen popular so I'll explain why I love it so. First, is the artwork. It is so distinct and yet diverse. I love how no two characters look the same and you get an enormous plethora of body types, looks, and etc. (Though the change in look of the two female leads has been a bit of disappointment imho.) It also lends itself incredibly well to the series' humor. Next is the world building, Oda has done a great job building a very believable world and one that I have seriously enjoyed exploring from the very beginning. To me, it's one of One Piece's strengths. And last is the storytelling... I cried over a friggen boat. I don't think much more needs to be said lol. Also, the anime is a TON of fun! I have started collecting it season by season. I know it's a helluva long series but honestly, I would totally recommend it. (Just skip the Davey Back Jones arc, it's the shittiest of the bunch. Instead watch the G-8 arc as to me, despite being a filler arc in the anime, it's a great addition to the One Piece universe and totally worth watching.)

Berserk - Ooooh how awesome this series is. The artwork is phenomenal as is the action, the total badassery of the main character Guts, and all of the super craziness that has happened since the sacrifice. Also, the original anime series trolls you so hard XD, it's great watching people's reaction to the series for the first time haha. Good stuff. Lastly, some don't like the movies but I must say that they are still pretty damned good and worth the watch. The first movie is available on Netflix right now for the those curious. Both the movies and the show miss a TON of stuff but they both do a great job of complimenting the manga.

School Rumble - One of the funniest mangas I have ever read. It also includes of my favorite female characters, Eri Sawachika. It had a terrible ending but I had read that the publisher forced the author to rush it so it had a crap ending. Thankfully, he made a much more proper ending in School Rumble Z and ties up a lot of loose ends. Overall, a great read.

Aqua/Aria - Nez already mentioned this one but I just have to relist. A beautiful series to read and just look at.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou - YKK for short. Another slice of life masterpiece. Both it and Aria to me, are the best slice of life stories I've read. It takes place in post apocalyptic Japan well after the apocalypse settled down and people are attempting to etch out a living. It follows a female android as she runs a small cafe in a very rural area as she goes about her daily life. A very good yet, melancholic read. No crazy drama, action, romance, or anything of the sort. Sometimes there are entire pages where nothing is said.

A Bride's Story - By the author of Emma: A Victorian Romance, this follows people living in Central Asia in what I am guessing is the mid-late 1800's. It has gorgeous artwork and an engaging story. Very well worth the read. I would also recommend Emma as well as it's a very good read and it has a much more satisfying ending than the anime despite the anime having a pretty good ending as well. Also, some might find it difficult to accept a prearranged wedding between a young 20-something year old woman and a 13ish year old boy but when read in the context of the setting and time period, it makes a lot of sense and also for a very interesting read.

Pumpkin Scissors - A pseudo-European setting that follows a military branch, known as Pumpkin Scissors, that focuses on post-war reconstruction following a devastating war. The main character is the hulking man who is actually very kind and a bit clumsy however he has a very dark past in relation to the war that his comrades in the Pumpkin Scissors are slowly discovering. However, there is some underlying conspiracy going on and the main cast of characters keep bumping up against it. Sadly, the anime doesn't get very far but the manga is still on going, but sadly it seems it's stopped being translated.

Gunka no Baltzar - Another pseudo-European setting this time in an era much more similar to World War I. It follows an officer of a country modeled heavily off of Germany/Prussia who is tasked with building relations with a neighboring country. He is of course, ordered to be an attache/adviser at the smaller country's sole military academy. So far it's been pretty good. I've enjoyed it quite a bit. It has had good artwork, lots of action, drama, comedy (if you can stand its comedy), and politics, and drama, and etc.

Baggata Way - A sports manga that follows an all-girls lacrosse team as they build friendships, discover the sport, compete, and have fun. Of course the main girl is a bit of a natural which I don't mind at all. Lots of comedy and exposition on the sport as well. One of the only sports mangas I read. It's available here as well but sadly, translations are a bit slow to very glacial to very non-existent.

Those are, I would say, my favorite mangas outside of the ones found here. (Check out my classics list if you want to see my favorite yuri stories.) There are plenty more that I would list but this top out as my all-time favorites. Below are a few other things I am reading that are in different formats but worth it imho:

Girl's of the Wilds - Webtoon - A martial arts action Korean webtoon that follows a boy who transfers into a newly minted coed school that was originally a totally girls only school. However, unbeknownst to the man guy, it's heavily oriented towards martial arts and all of the girls there are top athletes basically. It's been going on for a while and it definitely has its slow points, low points, and dull points but! It also has great comedy, drama, and action plus a solid female cast. I enjoy it immensely.

The Irregular at Magic High School - Light Novel - After watching the anime I chased down the light novels because I had heard that despite being a pretty decent anime, it missed a TON of information and scenes in the light novels. And, it was true! A LOT of very good bits of information and some great scenes were either left out entirely or just portrayed totally wrong. It really like the setting but the bro-siscon/incest thingy is kinda really weird sometimes -_-...

My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong as I Expected - Light Novel - Of course, only discovered it after the anime but I really enjoy the read. Hachiman is quite the main character and I can really relate to some of his dialogue and interactions with other characters. Some pretty interesting things going on. I would personally recommend it over the anime because the anime skips a LOT of moments. Unlike Irregular, the moments missed in the anime are actually, imho, moments that should have never been skipped because they add a lot to the series. So, watch the anime as a companion to the LN.

You're talking about the Davy back fight thing ? It's true that in the anime it's really long and looks like low level fillers (some of it is actually low level filler)... but what about Afro Luffy ?! That would be a terrible mistake to miss him... you're missing the whole point of this manga if you skip Afro Luffy :o

Girl's of the Wilds - Webtoon - A martial arts action Korean webtoon that follows a boy who transfers into a newly minted coed school that was originally a totally girls only school. It's been a while I didn't read any new chapter of this one, I need to take it back. Last time I checked it, it was finally going toward Queen's route... but I was rooting for Dal Dal the cutest of them all... I hope she doesn't get one sided till the end T_T

The Bloodstained Labyrinth arc was creepy as shit in the manga. Not sure if they toned down Mai's dream or not, but it was chilling in the manga. Urado was about as nasty a piece of work as you might imagine, too.

Mushishi Do I really need to describe this?

Adore the anime and I just started reading this recently, I'm really looking forward to it.

If you've seen the anime, you'll find the manga familiar since the anime was VERY faithful to the source. There really are very few things that were changed, in terms of both dialogue and even camera angles.

XXXholic I love this one, a take on the "sorcerer's apprentice" concept that makes Harry Potter look shallow. Plus, Watanuki is both funnier and more appealing than Harry.

I haven't seen the anime so I'm not sure, but there's stuff I'm certain would not be conveyed well in anime form (and vice versa). It's a fair length, so it seems likely there are events not covered in the anime, plus the occasional mention of events in Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles which largely don't impact the story much. A few background elements, and the reason why Yuuko and Watanuki are the way they are, but that's really about it.

Looking at the episode list on Wikipedia, it looks like there are some stories that don't appear in the manga, or are changed quite a bit at least. Of course my preference is almost always manga over anime with very few exceptions, so it's pretty clear what I'd go with.

@trafi
Oh don't get me wrong, afro Luffy was awesome but the entire arc seemed totally pointless to me. The only good thing about it was them meeting Akoji and him being all like, "who are you guys? Well, whatever, I'm gonna nap." XD

And Girl's of the Wilds has gotten really good again with decent humor and it appears Queen is finally making her moves. Also, Dal Dal might finally be accepting the fact that Jaegu isn't into her as a romantic interest.

It was creepy as shit in the anime as well. I don't think it pulled its punches at all...well at least according to me since ya know, I'm a wimp when it comes to horror lol. But BsL was freaking creepy. Probably the best arc in the entire anime afaik.

Great to hear! I'm really looking forward to reading the whole thing =)

Is xxxHolic tied into another series?

Is xxxHolic tied into another series?

xxxHolic and Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle are linked series, although the former doesn't rely very much on the latter. You can certainly read xxxHolic without reading TRC and only have a couple of minor bits that aren't explained in depth. So you don't have to read it if you don't want but it does fill a couple of pieces in which aren't really vital to enjoying the story (like why Yuuko has the shop in the first place, who the visitors are from the stuff like that).

Personally I read Tsubasa a couple of times and liked it even if it does get a bit over-complicated in spots. It's CLAMP, that's the risk you take when you walk in the door.

I like straight-forward, true to their feeling girls better than those who lock them inside... plus the way she beat up whoever she want taekwondo style with her tiny body as awesome as master Yoda compensate for everything x)

Lol I think, in her case, she's suffocating and though straight forward she may appear, I never once felt like she was being honest with herself and was chasing Jaegu superficially. That's how it always seemed to me. But I agree, Dal Dal's a total badass when it come to fighting.

If you guys want to read a psychological type manga, there's always Himegoto Jyuukyuusai no Seifuku. It follows the life of various college students with different problems, prostitution, Gender identity, and wanting to be someone else, just to name a few. The main character grew up in a way where she felt most comfortable in boyish clothing, and often gets seen as a guy and not as a woman. Even though she doesn't feel comfortable in girl's clothing, she wants to wear them, but doesn't want to be looked at in a different light. So she only wears her highschool uniform, her only skirt, in the house. She uses this to masturbate, to escape the fact that she wears boyish clothes. She then meets a guy that often crossdresses to look like another girl in his class: this girl is a prostitute that acts like she is a young school girl for the guys she's sleeping with, but she's actually a lesbian that has feelings for the MC. It's a really good concept that progresses beautifully.

Really??? can you give more spoilers about it? I really want to read WitchCraft Works, but every time I try, I remember that bullshit that girls can't marry each other, so they have child with some random man, so that their child marry each other when they grow up... man I really hope mother x mother and science babies are real.

@Nezchan

I just started rewatching the Bloodstained Labyrinth arc in the anime adaptation again of Ghost Hunt. I got friggen goosebumps all over my body and now I can't go anywhere in my house without turning on the lights and or carrying a bat if I hear a weird sound. And I shit you not right when Urado is depicted as saying, "I don't want to die" my grandpa made a loud knocking sound in his room and yelled some coherent things in his sleep. Scared the ever loving shit outta me. Now I can't sleep without a light on. Fuuuuuu.....

That awkward moment when you find a manga about hemorroids, you laught and joke about it with your friends online and then... you enjoy it ._.) is pretty good http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/kiss-my-ass-r11186 and don't worry it won't show explicit detailed drawings is all hilarious. Is not yuri but the characters are pretty good and lovable
