^ Haha, it's a bit of problem because in Chinese, the same character 羊 is used for sheep, goat, and ram.

There's literally no good answer for this but I've linked to a website that delves into this a bit deeper.

You can use all three, but it's more common for most people to call it the Year of the Sheep. It really makes no difference, as it is still the 8th sign of the Chinese Zodiac.
