That "Beato" shit already drove me nuts in the anime, do we really need to replicate it in writing? ^^;

I think the gems are purposely kept androgynous enough that people will see what they want to see. I've seen BL fans swear up and down that the characters definitely look like boys to them.

There's plenty of subtext, but the main thing is that all the main characters are delightful in the way they sort things out in general with Tomoko, with sex buzzing like background noise. They're all headed out into their lives and figuring things out in various ways with the dwindling time, and somehow it's been a joyous process for the reader (even when it's kinky and mean and Tomoko reminds us that she will probably always be kind of an asshole). Even the really awful characters like Minami (aka Fang, Fang Girl) become strangely compelling. What's really going on is not so much yuri or non-yuri as the messy hilarity of friendship and all the elements of it, and the way the mess makes life worthwhile.

And as A5PECT and others have been saying, reading the frequently agonizing first 65+ chapters of the manga is the only way to get to what I'm describing above.

Truth be told, the likely course is that Asuka would smile sweetly at Tomoko and say "Let's undress and lie together and make love" and Tomoko would be in bed before the dust settled.

@Pyoro It's a nickname since her real name is so long (Beatorisu). And since the characters refer to her with the nickname, yes we do have to replicate it to keep them in character (the alternative would be to write it as Beat, but that looks very wrong)

Considering that Kanna's "real" father now appeared in the manga... Yeah Kobayashi is way better for her. You go gay moms!

I think the best part is that Tohru would have been fine just getting Kobayashi's already worn Santa outfit lol

Kinda surprised that this is the first pair from this I've seen on here, considering that there's another character with a strongly implied (obvious) yuri crush on her childhood friend.
