So as the original translator (and a huge HP nerd), here's the explanation: Your Patronus can change to match (so they don't have to be the same necessarily) the Patronus of the person you love, but it will only do so if that love is eternal, unchanging, and part of you forever (e.g. it will only match your one true love, and won’t change for a person who you’ll eventually fall out of love with; this "eternal etc." was explicitly said in a tweet by JKR btw).

And that’s why Nozomi can’t show Eli her Patronus - because Eli would realize that Nozomi is in love with her. IIRC the original artist on Twitter said something about how this was part of an AU scenario in their head where Nozomi suddenly realized that she was in love with Eli, and that shock caused Nozomi's Patronus to shift into the same fox form as Eli's.

As for the James/Lily thing, gendered versions of Patronuses exist (e.g. stag/doe, lion/lioness, stallion/mare), so couples can have complementary (rather than identical) Patronuses since the charm is cast using happy thoughts, and your loved one is usually the basis for those.

Gayoon is the protagonist of Pito's original webcomic "Her Pet". Her hairstyle is similar to You's, and recent developments in that comic are...not so stellar for Gayoon. >w> To give you an idea of how bad it is: the story starts off with her being bullied really badly by a viciously sadistic upperclassman, but her current situation is even worse.

Most people see Hanayo's spirit animal as a deer because of the SIF animal set (Hanayo had a deer hoodie or something like that) and because of her seiyuu's nickname ("Shikaco" came from the fact that Kubo Yurika is from Nara, which is famous for its deer population). That SIF set also helped contribute to the popularity of Eli = fox, Nozomi = raccoon, and Maki = leopard/panther IIRC. If anything, an alpaca Patronus might work better for Kotori considering how obsessed she is with them in the SIF stories + anime, but then we wouldn't have the "little bird"/Kotori pun, haha.
