so i wanna watch some homo shit w/the bae, but i've exhausted all the lesbian movies i can think of. i didn't like but im a cheerleader nor the bbc adaptation of tipping the velvet, and ive not yet had an opportunity to watch blue is the warmest colour w/them, because i know for a fact that movie has a couple sex scenes, and we only really have a chance to watch movies n shit during lunch @ school.

WTF? The movie is about the younger partner coming out to her single parent father, who turns out to be gay and is 100% supportive of her being a lesbian, as her late mother was. It's the girlfriend who has a shitty father, and her coming out to him really isn't the point, it's her not caring about his approval any more.

Personally I think the manga is better since the MC comes off as a bit more mature, but otherwise it's a perfectly fine film with some really nice scenes.

I imagine it's not quite what you're looking for, but Mulholland Drive is one of the world's great films and is at its heart a lesbian love story. For that matter, while there's no lesbian content whatsoever, Tokyo Story was rated by directors as the greatest film ever made and has always seemed to me a sort of proto-yuri. (To be clear, you should definitely watch it for the first reason and not the second.)

Love their #3, "Imagine me & you", there are a couple of scenes that always make me lose it. I would consider adding Thelma & Louise (subtext though) and Cracks (Eva Green... but not very upbeat) to the, excellent, Autostraddle list.

But also very much agree with the two original statements being rather jarring and quite off-putting really.

On a board like this they clutter up the place really fast and generally make it hard to read. Most are sort of pre-made, cookie-cutter jokes anyhow.

I'd rather see people being clever, using hand-made jokes they crafted themselves rather than just buying off the rack and calling it a day.

The first statement made me assume that you were a disrespectful fourteen year old boy. I've never heard the term "homo shit" come from any other lesbian in my life. Just try wording things better.

I second Fried Green Tomatoes, it's a powerful movie.

I haven't watched that many lesbian movies, but I would also recommend Better than Chocolate.

I liked both D.E.B.S and But I'm a cheerleader.
Both are more on the comedy side. And are cute and funny.

The first one is about a supervillainess and a secret agent in training heroine falling in love.
Being a fan of Kigo ringed all the right bells with me.

The second one is about a cheerleader being sent to a camp to make her straight by her family.
She always thought that she was straight as an arrow... after all is normal to be grossed by her boyfriend kissing her, and is absolutly straight behaviour being enthralled by the other cheerleader doing those flips and jumps and those panties showing...

Cheerleader is pretty over the top as a cult comedy. It's funny, sure, but not incredibly so. I think it went over the top in a "Scary Movie" sense.
