I've been rewatching Wentworth and I just realized that in the season 3 finale, there were two lesbians trapped in a fire and neither of them died. That's probably a first in any kind of media.

Franky x Bridget might just be my favorite yuri couple ever.

So it's worth a watch? I tried Orange is the New Black but it's too cringe worthy for me to watch.

It's definitely worth a watch. It's quite a bit more serious than OITNB.

Lost Girl is airing again and apparently they just removed the last obstacle to Lauren x Bo being endgame.

I watched the first 3 seasons of Bad Girls which is where the Helen X Nikki arc takes place. It's pretty okay, I guess. I've never watched a soap opera but the series strikes me as pretty soap opera-ish and it's definitely worse than Wentworth or OITNB, at least in my opinion.
Other than Nikki and Helen who get their happy end there's also another lesbian couple in the show but one of them dies in season 4 so fuck that. And Jim Fenner is like the most annoying bad guy ever. Dude should get locked in a room with Joan and Jaqs from Wentworth and see what happens when mysogyny is your only character trait.

Bunch of movies that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

Desert Hearts: Movie from 1985, based on the book "Desert of the Heart" by Jane Rule. Unhappily married woman drives out to some farm or whatever for work and gets romanced by a younger woman. As you can probably tell by the year of release it ends with all the lesbians still gay and alive. What's up with that, right?
Addicted to Fresno: Natasha Lyonne is in it and Aubrey Plaza is her love interest so it doesn't even matter if the movie is good.
Bound: Turns out Sense8 wasn't the first piece of LGBT media by the Wachovskis.
Alto: Mob-comedy, probably best compared to DEBS: It's far from being the best comedy and it's far from being the best movie or series about the mob but the romance carries the movie.

Not even sorry about the triple post.

So whoever thinks about buying Alto: I think you can only get it from Vimeo. The movie is pretty good but the audio is really badly mixed and it's really hard to understand anything when they talk over BGM.

set off quite a shitstorm when released

Why is that?

This should give a fuller answer than a quick forum reply, but the tl;dr is heavy far-right religious pressure and politicians pandering to that.

^Thanks. That made me grab my head a few times.

Other politicians of the Hindu right voiced fears that the film would "spoil [Indian] women" and younger generations by teaching "unhappy wives not to depend on their husbands" and informing the public about "acts of perversion."

Urgh.

Anyone watching Entangled with You? Is it good?

Also, Carol trailer. Seems really promising.

This one caught my eye, looks like fun. A teensy bit different from the usual fare around here though.

I gather it's already on some of the streaming services. Maybe take a look for it on Netflix if you have it?

Hey there — Sadly the film was not released in theaters. But it is now available on DVD, VOD and digital. You can find it on iTunes, Amazon, WolfeOnDemand [dot] com and more.

Cloudburst looks hella fun, and funny. And it's been out for a while as well.

Carol I'm assuming doesn't have a happy ending. Since it's set in an older period. And it's by a book as well?

Iirc correctly, it's one of the first gay books that DOES have a happy ending. And yes, it's a book by Patricia Highsmith, the lady from the Ripley series.

Speaking of 70 year old lesbians, Grandma got pretty good reviews all around. The trailer doesn't even mention that Elle is gay but judging by some of the reviews, part of the movie is about Elle griefing about her long term partner that deceased a few years prior to the start of the movie and the first scene is her dumping her like 40 years younger girlfriend.
More info as well as spoilers are on AfterEllen. Elle's relationship with the younger girl is detailed on page 3.

Physical release date is TBA.

Huh, I guess the trailer is a little bit misleading. Cause you know, everyone makes trailers nowadays that are retelling of the movies in short format xD

It does have a happy ending. Also, I highly recommend the book, it's very touching and well written.

Lily Tomlin playing a kickass gay grandma?

The only way that would be more awesome if there were dragons in it.

"Fuck you, grandma!"
"I'm not your grandma, Tommy Batauski, but I did get to second base with her in the seventh grade."

Cloudburst is pretty awesome.

Anyone keeping up with Carmilla? Am I the only one who's not really behind Laura anymore? Carm deserves way better.

I really enjoy it, would definitely recommend watching a few episodes and see for yourself if you like it. You probably will, though.

If you manage to overcome the stiffness and overacting at times (most of it), I think you will. Watched only 2 episodes of the second season, I'm waiting till it finishes so I can watch in peace xD

I'm doing the exact same thing. First season was great in a "Buffy goes to Night Vale" kind of way.

Entangled with You was surprisingly good. The YT channel it's on, HardlyWorkingTV, seems to have quite a bit of webseries and short movies with lesbian and bisexual women in them,
