There are thirty cows and twenty-eight chickens in a field.
How many didn't?

Note: there is an answer to this riddle. Also try not to get too into it. Read it out loud and don't think too much of the words just hear what you are reading out loud and you will get it. This riddle is harder when it's written down lol. Some of you might already know the answers so don't try to rightaway say it, let's have some fun with those who are trying to figure it out.

Super spoiler clue alert!

Homophones. It's why the clue was to say it out loud.

Doesn't help much if you don't have the ear for it, since you are too occupied with the unfamiliar way the words sound and your mind is busy deciphering it

It's not you, that's kind of a vague hint. Basically "eight" and "ate" sound the same, so the sentence means that twenty of the cows ate the chickens.

For future reference I believe every English word that has "igh" in the middle of it has the G and H silent. Blight, night, sleight, slight, sleigh, neigh, and eight all come to mind off-hand and that rule is true for all of them.

It's my first (and only) language and it actually took me a bit to figure it out too, even with saying it out loud. For awhile it just seemed like a bit of a non-sequitur then it just kinda clicked while I was thinking it over, lol.
