In that moment it was a reference of how Umi is always surrunded by friends, Shou makes it more specific in later chapters (when they go to Shou's apt and after the cultural festival). About if it was too early to already like Umi, It will be stated in next chapter that Umi chatched Shou's eyes from afar even before their first interaction
