There's a passage in one of the volumes (forgot where it is) where the subject actually comes up, but Bakarina actually has a moment of cowardice that may derail it. It's in a very erotic passage where the two of them are definitely on the verge, but Bakarina says something like "she was about to go down a path that led somewhere she didn't know" or something like that.

If that determines the course of the story, it's sad, but it's lot better than baiting something, then saying it was never an issue.

^ I think there probably will be a point in the story where she encounters a same sex couple bc from what I remember at that point it wasn’t bc she didn’t want to, but rather being too naive (I don’t think it’s the best word for it) to be aware it was possible between the two of them if she genuinely loved Maria. Plus Maria is one of the more subtle of LI unlike the others, so Baka still isn’t aware of Maria and her actual interest towards her and the same applies to most anyone else either so, but even so she’s shown a lot of interest towards Maria.

Nico is a good kid too if you forget that his other LI was his sister, in fact I think him and Sophia are good candidates after Maria.

If I'm not wrong, I remember in my childhood a episode where Ranma forgets that he is really a boy or something like that and he acts very friendly to Akane as a girl and it was very cute.
