Just checked my to read list and then... I had to be very sleepy if I added yaoi. Cause I hate yaoi.

This series is great. I really loved how they made cross dressing traps dark. The series itself is very psychological, it's really one of my favorite works when it comes to this sub genre. The way they handles the serious topic of cross dressing and transgender individuals really surprised me. They took the concept seriously, and it intrigued me to read the whole series.

To be honest I think the first page of the Boku no Hentai Another chapter basically sums up why i'm sometimes uncomfortable recommending this series as a manga with a trans girl in it: They constantly call her a Crossdresser and like... idk. It bugs me. I may be a little more sensitive to stuff like that then most trans women though.

Not to say i don't enjoy reading it but the way they handle her just feels off sometimes. Then again trans people are different in the way they relate to their transness and i have heard other trans women recommend the series and say they related to her. then again that person had a different view of almost all the relationships and stuff. Mainly she focusing on the idea that Marika is the least messed up member of the group and that a lot of her issues came from a mix of dysphoria and the fact that she is trying to relate to dark and edgy fiction stereotype crossdressers and not other trans people. i don't think that's well supported by the text itself though.

Edit: Holy fuck i didn't remember chapter 40. Jesus... Yeah most definitely has problems.

Yeah... yeah. I'm not intimately familiar with the way trans girls/women in Japan view themselves as members of society, so I'm trying my best to be a little aloof about it, but I can't deny that it makes me uncomfortable. I wouldn't ever recommend this to another trans woman.

I think a lot of the issues stem from the fact that Fumi deliberately avoided actual research until midway through the series, so it led to an uncanny wrongness that never really ceased. I'm sure one can defend it by pointing out that hey, it's fiction and it's meant to be fantastical and entertaining and not necessarily an accurate portrayal of the actual lives of people, but... that doesn't stop me from feeling uncomfortable and, well, used in a way.

That's not to say I didn't get anything out of it. Hell, I read through the whole thing twice and enjoyed it. But that doesn't mean I don't feel uncomfortable with the way people like me we're handled.

Well, a lot of it was fine until Chapter 40.

Not one of, but being the most f**k up and dark manga that I have ever read. What makes it scary is that the plot can be real life.

really amazed by this completely random find, i thoroughly enjoyed it. never read a manga that delves into these kinds of things and takes them so seriously.
(and then i got to chapter 40 and was very sad)
