This series fit what would be called "dark humor" back in the day. Nowadays, this expression is associated with other things. One of the traits of this sort of humor is irony, so you will see some serious questionings during the series. My major problem with it, is the fact that the characters are all well designed and have their unique traits, then they get killed a few seconds after being introduced. And I mean it, sometimes even before being properly introduced. So I assume the author is planning something. Also with Konoha, whatever she's hiding is either a fucking joke or something that will make the tables turn.

^^In the first episode Mako was introduced as someone who suffers from social anxiety (in a relatable way, not stylized like Bocchi). This trait was dropped immediately in the following episodes though. So, Kurea would be the Bocchi in this case?

^^^The whole world fell for the "free speech" thing. It's intuitive that freedom is a good thing, and it feels like it refers to everything we are currently allowed to do. So, instead of explaining what it means, you create a great narrative to exploit each collective's frustrations then target it to whatever you want to be oppressed. Sounds like 4D chess but it really isn't, it's so straight forward that it's more like 1D chess...

Btw, did you ever look up the definition of musk? It's a bad smell that doesn't come off.

Are you a mathematician or something?. Anyways, bait(x) ↔ Ⅰ(x)∧Ⅱ(x)∧Ⅲ(x) seems consistent. That implies that foolsyuri(x) ↔ Ⅰ(x)∧Ⅱ(x)∧¬Ⅲ(x), am I right? Now you got me wondering if ¬Ⅰ(x)∧¬Ⅱ(x) is a thing (I guess that's the case for GWitch). Or even more insane: ¬Ⅰ(x)∧Ⅲ(x).

I've seen this "bait and switch" being used before, but I assumed it meant the same as "bait", after all, no one would hook a fish to let it swim freely. I think that's what Zesc meant.

The term "bait" is often used wantonly and with little regard to the intentionality it implies. Perhaps we need another term for things that look seem like yuri at first, but aren't. "Fool's Yuri", perhaps?

I always considered "bait" something that harms the yuri in the series. Something that goes beyond just "not being yuri" or hyperbolically yuri, but go as far as making it impossible after introducing and/or developing the series towards what it seems to be yuri. Just like what an actual bait is supposed to do. I assume that's the same reason for why "trap" is considered transphobic nowadays. Would the "Fool's Yuri" that you suggest fit the definition of "bait" that I wrote?

It's not like I hate it, I'm just not interested in watching another series that is, once again, a generic love triangle with a dull male protagonist. The ship is cute, and that's why I'm still curious about the show. When it comes to hate, I don't really hate anything, but I would be lying if I said that sometimes I get really salty when we are fed the possibility just to have that kind of end. You know what I mean? Also, it's kinda hard to find a consensus when it comes to distinguish what is bait and what is not...

Also yeah I'm enjoying Zatsu Tabi, it's fairly budgeted but it's cute

Zatsu Tabi feels like those vloggers that share their experiences in Japan. And from the perspective of a mangaka, which makes me think they had a very specific target group in mind. Like Mono, the series about traveling magakas.

^If you need a push for Maebashi Witches: 2 characters have heavily implied reciprocal feelings.

^^^I noticed that, but I had high expectations regardless. Yuru Camp got popular for what it is, so it's fair to assume that Mono would have the same overall quality.

^^I'm also watching it! Another one that I don't see being mentioned that often. Maybe if I manage to get one image of it uploaded in the next batch we can get other users interested in it. And yeah, it really is kinda like WEP but done right.

^"WEP done right" is more about the structure of the series, "working together to gather points to get one wish fulfilled" basically. Maebashi Witches was able too keep its quality so far, that's why I agree with it being WEP done right. But WEP had much more potential, easily.

Shuji is a wet cardboard main male protagonist, from what I saw his personality was flatter than some self insert isekai male protagonists. Both girls falling in love with him felt like some kind of prank...

That was what I was afraid of in the beginning of this season. And let's be real, almost every male protagonist is like that.

But also on the topic of the bad things the WfM characters did, Miorine gets disproportionally hated

As a hardcore yuri fan, I don't care about genocide. I have priorities. Not that I disagree about Miorine being disproportionally hated, being mean to Suletta spices up the ship. Now about Itachi, you know, they are Naruto fans, maybe they just like the edginess or whatever. Idk, Idc, give me yuri or gtfo.

@FluffyCow @Perlen297 It feels like the author is self inserting to share some experiences as a mangaka. I'm not against it, but to deviate that much from the premise of the series is quite disappointing. I was expecting more from Mono. There's still enough episodes left to go back in the track though!

There's a few shows I'm enjoying more this season, such as Apocalypse Hotel, along with HibiMeshi as you mentioned.

First time I see someone mentioning Apocalypse Hotel. Very interesting world building. The expectations are much different than what you will see in the show. The further the series go, the more noticeble Arawi's influence is. 0% chance of yuri so far.
