All least, none is cheating anymore.

I was re-reading the side stories from the beginning, and Iori is a real jerk to Minami, no matter how you look at it. She beats her up and manipulates her emotionally.

At this point, I'm sure the author is doing it on purpose. She's not condoning, or promoting it, as some people would like you to think, she's just sampling various possible types of relationship between people.

Iori and Mianmi's a dysfunctional relationship, based on co-dependency. Iori comes across as a self-centered jerk, addicted on booze and mobile games, who would end up in a ditch somewhere if Minami wasn't there to pick her up.

Minami comes across as insecure, desperate to be loved, who takes being beaten up as a form of love, and with a savior complex.

Their couple lasts only because they're co-dependent in a fucked up way.

I think the author is perfectly aware that her characters are flawed and, in some aspects, dis-likable or infuriating, but that's what she wants to write (hence, the title): relationships that hold up against all odds.

The fact the woman was a monster was phoned in for a few chapters. No surprise there.

It doesn't preclude a "good friendship" ending, while hinting at a couple ending.

Well done Sumiko.

So I'm reading through this, and currently on Chapter 16. Kinda confused by the ending; did I miss something, or was there a mistranslation? Like, I can't tell if the last panel is implying Minami got hit by the sister, or by Iori, or neither. Looking back through the chapter, no actual violence has been shown from either of them despite the plentiful threats, but then there's that that like, mark on Minami's cheek that I can't tell if it's a bruise or just her blushing for some reason. Given everything that went down in like, Chapter 8 or 9 or so, it feels like kind of a weird implication, but given no hitting was directly shown, I'm wondering if the translation is off or something.

There's no mistranslation. Iori punched Minami offscreen for suggesting it wasn't a good idea to go out with her. She has a bruise near the mouth.

What's not clear there?

This is not a infinite loop, like groundhog day.

As far as I understood, it loops until some "undefined power" decides the outcome is what it should be (see page 27).

And she doesn't forget anything of what happened in those loops.

So no, she won't be stuck forever on entrance ceremony day.

By the way, I don't translate the title of the chapters, even though Agu gives them titles, because Amarrez never did, but in this instance, the title has significance.

This chapter has the serie's title on twitter: 気になってた人が男じゃなかった

Which, in this instance, means "The Guy I Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy"

So, Agu tells us that Aya indeed realized that Onii-san and Koga are one and the same.

No need to search for other interpretations.

And yet, people are still speculating xD

Hey listen, did Fukunaga just say to Mitsuki: “Keep trying to seduce my blondie, you lesbo bitch, and I'll fire your ass so hard you'll get burn marks on your buttcheeks!” or did I get his implied meaning wrong??

You got it completely wrong. He's in a poly relationship with Nanami and gets his kick out of jealousy. Why would he be against a new source of "pleasure" for him?

He just told her to be careful and keep her relationship with Nanami separate with her dealing with her as a customer.

Which is just what he did himself: when Nanami and Hiroki came to tour the Hotel, he made someone else do it.

What I find interesting is the subversion of the trope of cheating by Akiyama Haru.

In the beginning, people were up in arms because they thought Tsuzuki was cheating on Hiroki with Fukunaga and were pitying Kashiwai, which seemed to have strong opinions about adultery and cheating, to have fallen for such a "slut".

But then it appears that Tsuzuki isn't cheating at all and it's Kashiwai who's suddenly in the position of the cheater. The more level headed in there seems to be Tsuzuki, which is comfortable with her "abnormality" (in the eyes of society) in being in a poly relationship and whose, as she said, love is additive. There's nothing wrong with Tsuzuki's point of view in adding a woman to her "harem". She loves them all equally. She won't stop loving Hiroki or Fukunaga. She'll add Kashiwai to her love. I think she's being sincere and honest.

The one who need to own up to her feelings is Kashiwai. It looks like she's not indecisive at all and has taken the matter in her own hands. Giving her contact info, "coming out" to her coworker, and Fukunaga has obviously noticed something. He probably saw her when he was kissing in the back alley and that she came to the dress store on a day off probably raised flags to him. Hence, his warning: keep work and personal separate.

The next step is sort things out with Jun-kun. I don't know how it will play out, but I think he's not completely unaware there's something wrong with their relationship, so it may not be as messy as we think. He may even accept Kashiwai's relationship with Tsuzuki and not be actually jealous, which would be an interesting twist.

After 7 chapters, I still have no clue how all of this will unravel, so I'm looking forward to how Akiyama Haru will handle this mess.

But, I think they will have a marriage ceremony, because it's the central theme. But who with who remains to be seen.

I don't know why people forget that they literally fell in love with each other on first sight. They both didn't admit it at first, because it felt somewhat outlandish, but by now, they both came to term with it.

They didn't even know about each other, they could have not met ever again, but somehow, by some fate's decree, they were reunited and entangled. It's not like they had to interact for a while before they fell in love. All it took is their gaze crossing.

Yes, I have caught up RAW wise, at 11. I have a subscription. Now that someone sort of translate it up until 11, I have a bit more freedom to write here. Maybe when 7-11 are uploaded, then I will write more with freedom.

If something isn't uploaded here, you still have to use black bars, even if it's uploaded elsewhere.

As for these machine translated chapters, they'll NEVER be uploaded here.

For one, unless the previous group announced it dropped a manga, Dynasty never change group. For two, Dynasty has standards and rarely, if ever, uploads MTL or Re-translates from a 3rd language.

As for Semelparous, it's behind for the same reason as this one, since it's the same person translating it. And anyway it's in hiatus.

It's actually real easy to find odd jobs in Japan, like, any konbini will hire someone on the spot, as long as they look OK enough.

High School students are expected to take part-time jobs if they want some pocket money.

The problem is of course that the pay is really low and you're expected to do overtime, with a smile.

So, there's a whole chunk of Japanese adults, the freeters, who just live with that because they can't, don't want or don't feel like getting a full time job. They are seen by the rest of society as burdens.

"The no alternative type could not find a decent job before high school or university graduation in the system called "simultaneous recruiting of new graduates" (新卒一括採用, Shinsotsu-Ikkatsu-Saiyō), which is unique to Japanese society. Those left behind by Shinsotsu-Ikkatsu-Saiyō are forced to take low paying irregular jobs." (source: wikipedia)

I once tried sake at a high end restaurant and I hated it. The stuff tasted like whisky flitered through rotten rice. I'd take sip and cringe. There are a lot of different sake of different quality, flavors.

Like any alcohol, it's an acquired taste.

For example, I dislike beer or red wine. I find them too bitter and my palate rejects it. But some people drink it like it's the best thing in the world.

To each their own I guess.

The fact that the author glosses over the ins and outs of how this school, or world, works, means, in my opinion, that it's not something they think would bring anything to the story, or is not the kind of story they want to tell.

The plot is obviously built on death, blood, drama and strong emotions (of love and others) and is plot/character driven, not "world building" driven.

I can understand how it would be frustrating to some to not have an exposition about how, in a far far away future, Vampire and Human societies interact, how can Vampires "grow up" (do they have parents? Are there any male Vampires?) and why the school doesn't seem to value the well-being or life of the students, but the author decided against laying out explanations, for now or forever.

When Yucca cuts Emielle, it wasn't the school that reacted, but the other girls, because Emielle is popular, not really because she could have died. She even stabbed her feet, but it amounted to nothing. She healed in a matter of minutes. There seems to be a pervasive indifference toward death in that society. Which I can understand, because Vampires are hunted too and death is a common occurrence. When Shiki died, the other students were like "it can't be helped" (and the school didn't call a counselor to talk about it with them... life goes on)

So, actually, I think the author gives answers, but more implicitly than explicitly.

If you're the type that want answers spelled out to you in exposition, it's probably not the series for you.

And there's no manga so removed from reality that somebody won't try to apply whatever happens in it to real life and protest about how it's "unrealistic".

Obviously, their standard for what's dangerous, and what is not, is not the same as humans.

I rather think it makes sense. They are future predators and they have preternatural healing abilities, but in turn they're also hunted.

There's been plenty of hints before that the school considers the death of some of their pupils as something pretty much unavoidable.

The teachings are tuned to that, whereas you people react as if they were human children.

Tsuzuki really said two-timing is not cheating. I wonder what her religions is lol. Actually a very nice manga 10/10. It actually has a good, complicated and interesting drama compared to the other series here.

Tsuzuki's (and Hiroki/Fukunaga's, though we don't know much about them) points of view challenge the belief that something like cheating is universally bad.

In the end, what's moral and what is not is cultural and people adhere to it more by obligation (to not stand out) than by inclination.

That's why so many men dream of having a harem.

Probably the usual "suki", which is very ambiguous in Japanese.

Y'know, people always say this, but my experience was always that HS students in the U.S. use "like" in pretty much the same ambiguous way.

Remember it's two women here. So, saying to each other "I like you", in theory, shouldn't be taken as romantic, but as "I'm fond of this person".

You'll notice that only Hato and Ruri are shocked. It flies over the head of the others.

Hato, probably because she knows of Suga's orientation and of their relationship, and Ruri because she knows that Miyako never expressed that kind of feeling to anyone before.

Page 12 is interesting. On the one hand it looks like just the kind of a situation where the Japanese wording is intentionally ambiguous about who the "ya" is, but I also feel it as a suggestion that Miyako has gotten over Ruri.

I don't think Miyako ever had feelings for Ruri though, if that's what you're suggesting.

I just think that she doesn't want to be a burden to her ex-band members, especially Ruri. They have more than enough on their plate, running their idol career, so she doesn't want to add to their worries.

Her relationship with Asako is different. While Asako takes charge in the house, she makes sure Miyako does her share (at Grandma's request) and grows up.

So Miyako feels like it's someone she can rely on, without being a burden to her.

It's already finished at 4 volumes. It's her previous series before "Maitsuki".

It stays subtext until the end. Probably why it was tagged immediately as such here.
