I often see interesting takes on stories here. So, I was wondering if anyone was reading Lily of the Valley? I have seen it being described as bottom of the barrel NTR and as feminist trash porn for women.

To me it's terrible. I'm not normally so blunt but this one took the cake. I wanted to see if anyone was discussing the series on here but it seems there's not much. I've got a bit more to say if anyone does want to discuss it though. Definitely not a recommendation from me unless someone wants a good chuckle.

Yeah, the story is ultimately quite bleak. Ended rather abruptly, too, I expected it to last at least 60 chapters, like Bad Thinking Diary.

It was okay. Simple and darker yuri netorare. Both Lily and Anna make bad choices and lost what's dear to them. A bit rushed though. Chapter 7 had a big time skip. Instead of that there should be a quick time passing montage to show how Lily succumbs to lust and Anna doing nothing to stop that. But the last chapter is closing the story loop nicely.

No desire to check this out but I've seen several people get bent out of shape over it, which confuses me because I thought this was a pornhwa.

Why would anyone expect a decent story from porn and then get upset when it doesn't deliver one?

Personally, I think this is bad even on that scale. Still, I agree with you. It's weaknesses made it impossible for me to feel anything strongly one way or the other. It's very forgettable and that has nothing to do with it's being a standard NTR story. I was surprised it got so much attention but I guess that's at least partly because of its relationship to BTD.

It's trending like crazy. And I'll never understand those who death wishes author coz they wanted a happy ending for a character they consider "good". I mean, this was tagged netorare on ridibooks (where it was publihsed) from the start. Its not all sunshine and rainbows in yuri. Lol.

I guess the audience coming from BTD haven't experienced NTR much? I honestly don't see it in mainstream girls love series at all. That could be why they didn't see it for what it was? It was a very straightforward and by the books NTR plot and character spread, so that's what I'd assume. Might have needed to target the appropriate audience better. She's done other NTR works as the artist too and het ones, so shouldn't have been a surprise unless the audience expected something similar to BTD.

Some of the reactions (even Korean) she's getting seem pretty negative and aggressive and I think that's what the commenter was referring to--death wishes and all that. I don't see those types of reactions to typical pornwha, even NTR ones.

Idk, I just find all the negative reactions to be way overblown. Its really not that bad of a story. A bit rushed for sure, but I'm wondering how many episodes Rangrari was allotted by Riri. And most of the "criticisms" I've seen have boiled down to "I wanted a happy ending, so I think its bad".

I guess I'll rephrase it in a different way:

We're talking about a pornhwa, right? The only question that matters is "was it hot?". If the answer is yes, then the porn was good. If no, the porn was bad.

Story and characters are mere set decoration for titillating art.

That depends? Do you enjoy netorare scenerio? Do you like the conflicted feelings? Some don't like it even if the sex scenes are good.
