I love how passive Torako is in these. She's adorable!

I tend to hold back when it comes to doujins of anime's I've seen, I regret nothing.
I enjoyed this.

I thought it was because her parents/guardians thought she was a burden, her step-brother was a bully, and her step-sister was too controlling. In the manga it was implied that she spent as much time as she could on the run.

I only saw the anime, but wow that's pretty dark.

The anime basically turned one instance of her running away into a much bigger deal than it was in the original story. Surprisingly, Torako's home life, despite its darkness, only seems to get mentioned in passing. Usually only on occasions when she's crashing at someone else's house or seeing how far away from town she can travel with Suzu.

The step brother and sister, at least, eventually turn out to really care about her in their own, very weird, ways. They both get downright scary when they think she might be in actual danger.

Someone knows if it's true that the mangaka abandoned Hyakko? It stopped at volume 6 in 2007, then had reprint in 2012 with a volume 7 in 2013, everywhere says it's ongoing but no chapters were made after that and he's working on another manga already, Abnormal-kei Joshi.

Unfortunately, yes. It is has been on indefinite hiatus since 2012.

This is actually the doujin that made me a Pikachi fan. It also got me to watch the series, which is pretty fun.

Aich, 10 years ago :') I love Hyakko so so much, I found Pikachi thanks to that serie. How bad the ending of the manga... This still has a place in my heart ♥
