You don't like the series for what it is, you like it for what you can get out of it. Your interest is in your own amusement, rather than the series itself.

Cause if you're not then you're doing a great job of emulating him. Liking non-canon pairings doesn't make you less of a fan of a series than someone who prefers canon pairings. It just means you enjoy it a different way than they do.
