Who said anything about letting someone go if you like them? When I was saying it's good to have an exit strategy, it's for if things go bad or she realized she's not as into this girl is she thought.

That's irrelevant because she should make a move much sooner lol. I spent years pouring all my doubt and insecurity into my backwards relationship with my first love, to the point that even today when we're past it all, we just don't talk about our relationships with other people (she's one of my best friends). If the two of us had just owned up to our feelings on like.. day 3... we probably would have had a semi-healthy relationship and broken up eventually, but at least I would have fewer regrets. It's not even that obvious that elthundercat's situation is that serious yet, she should just give it a go.
