But in the anime Fate series, the protagonist is always male. I don't get it.

^Not always, the original protagonist was gonna be a girl, and Artoria was gonna be a male. But then they decided to replace the protagonist with a boy (Shirou) and make Arthur a girl. The original game became the Fate/Prototype novel, and apparently the original protagonist became Rin, and both Fate/Extra and Fate/Grand Order have male and female protagonists (which use the same default name regardless of gender). You seem to be really missing out, because the female Fate/Extra protaginist even appears in Last Encore as the "original" Hakuno (but tbh she should have been THE protagonist).

Well they did allow games like Nights of Azure II (originally made for the PS4) on their system so it isn't like Nintendo has something against lesbians. Thankfully there's a user made mod that allows this ship (and others). No clue about it's quality since I don't own a 3DS though.
