I'm still holding hope for a potential season 2, as well.

I usually don't like romance anime but they did a really great job with season 1. And it stops before they even get to the best parts of the story too. I really hope that we'll hear news of a second season sometime soon.

I really question the population of this school. According to the campus shown in this chapter it's around 2.25 sq. km. max. (~1.5km across its widest point on both axes.) With a population of 1,558,000 that'd give a population density of 692,444 people per square kilometer. According to this page on Wikipedia, the densest city in the world is Manila with a population density of 46,178 people per square kilometer. That's a hair under 15x the population density.

So basically 0.69 persons per square meter.
So people are gay because they can't avoid touching other girls.

It's actually even worse than that since the 2.25 sq. km I got was from its largest dimensions. Overall it'd probably be somewhere around 1/2 to 2/3rds the size I gave up there which could give a population density as high as high as about 1,384,889 people per sq. km.

BV posted:

How do the Kowloon Walled City and Dharavi Slum compare to the campus?

According to this page, Kowloon was worse at 1,930,000 people per square kilometer. I'm not sure if the Dharavi Slum is a subset of Dharavi as a whole or not since the Wikipedia page seems to use the two terms fairly interchangeably but this page gives enough info to get a population density of around 461,893 people per sq. km, though the text on the page gives it as "more than 277,136 people per sq. km" for some reason. So not as bad as the first (though Kowloon had a far lower population, just on much much smaller territory. Although it's important to note that pretty much the entirety of Kowloon were towers that were in the 8-12 story range) but notably worse than the latter which Wikipedia notes is one of the most densely populated places on the planet.

But isn't "gay for pay" accurate? I'm gay to get paid.
Even I'm doing gay things to get paid sounds accurate regardless of what xyz gets!

The connotation of gay for pay is that you are being gay to get paid. Meaning you're not actually gay outside of that. That's why the name was changed since 90% of the things tagged as gay for pay were actually characters that were gay to begin with.

That's not really how a host migration works. From what I recall the site runs on Ruby, so any host that supports sites coded in Ruby would support the entire site, lists, posts, and everything else. A site overhaul, on the other hand, could potentially be a worry there if it happened since that would mean the site (or parts of it) are getting recoded and may not support the same things.

Pay for gay works perfectly fine for that still. She's being paid to be gay. The reverse, however, is extremely inaccurate for most things that use the tag.

There were a few spots the translation was really difficult to decode. For example on this page there's several references to "external student" which just made no sense at all. It was only through the surrounding context that I was able to decode what they actually meant was "transfer student". What's up with translators and QCers missing stuff like this? I could understand the translator missing it as they're in the process of translating but surely they read over it afterwards to make sure everything flows correct, right? And you'd think that if they overlooked it that a QCer would catch it.

Lili is the only character I'm worth a damn at in Tekken 7. I started off playing as Alyssa and I can do alright as her but I quickly found out against my irl friend who specializes in fighting games that she's not near as good a character as I thought. With Lili I at least had about a 50% chance to win when he chose a random character. (Which is a good win ratio against him. I'm the second best in our friend group at fighting games but I don't specialize in them or even play them all that often really.)

It's quite common to lose contact with friends from high school. I only talk to like three of my friends from high school myself. I have like 5-6 others added on places like Steam but I basically never talk to any of them. And the three I do talk to is fairly rarely itself. Maybe a few times a month at most. And the same is fairly common even for more extroverted people in my experience. My sister's way more social than I am and she's not in contact with too many of her high school friends either.

It's really obnoxious how prevalent this kinda crap is in anime. I'm quite picky about what anime I watch and I still have to tolerate that sort of shit far too often even in shows that are otherwise good. Ghost in the Shell, for example, is widely considered to be a great franchise. (Ignoring Arise which was just all over the place and Stand Alone Complex 2045 which just seems awful from the one episode I was able to sit through.) The Major has to deal with sexist crap far too often, including from well-meaning sources such as Batou. Not to mention the episode in 2nd Gig where Section 9 goes to some bigwig party working as security and the guy they're doing it for gets extremely touchy with the Major and she's just forced to tolerate it.

I don't recall Batou doing anything sexist to the Major, though it's been a while since I watched it. As for the second episode, I don't specifically recall it, but was the point to make it clear that those people were powerful and slimy?

In Batou's case it's nothing overt so much as the way he's always thinking she needs rescuing and such. It happens quite a few times over the course of the series. It's clearly more of a subconscious thing than something he's doing on purpose but it's still kinda annoying.

In the second case I don't think that was the point since the episode was already centered around Section 9 infiltrating the guy's vault to get evidence to use against him anyways. For reference it's episode 3 of 2nd Gig, Cash Eye. (And coincidentally the guy in question is apparently called Mr. Tadokoro according to Wikipedia which is an odd coincidence, lol.)

I think it's necessary for everyone in society to take personal responsibility for calling out any kind of harassment that they see publicly, so that the person doing it comes to understand that it's unacceptable and won't be tolerated. For the person annoyed at the "sour feminist grapes," whatever that's supposed to mean, this goes back to my comment about sexual assault being normalized in Japanese culture, especially fiction. It's everywhere. I mean, literally everywhere. The "magistrate assaulting the girl" is played for laughs all the fucking time. I don't know if it's gotten better in recent years or not, but the depiction of assault is alive and well, as shown by this story. All stereotypes have a basis in reality, and this is no different.

You're right. It's the reason I don't watch much anime anymore. I basically only read yuri manga so I especially hate when some forced het rape is shoe horned in, in what I thought was an extremely wholesome manga about two girls that like each other. It's just really triggering. Lately western cartoons have the right idea with the lgbt representation but back then I had to settle for yuri anime that was incredibly rapey (ex: kannazuki no miko & strawberry panic)

maybe I am biased because I'm from the states and thats just our culture but I feel extremely bad for women where they have to tolerate a misogynist culture.

That's how the market goes, why complain?

Why is it a problem to complain about the market pandering to desperate guys and pretending everyone else doesn't exist? There's a reason so many people consider isekai and ecchi/harem crap to be total garbage. It's because they're awful on an objective level and only sell well because of all the desperate guys out there.

Konosuba and shield hero aren't awful.

Konosuba isn't, Shield hero definitely is.

Considering they didn't even attempt to actually address the point I was trying to make, it's clear they're just here for reactions. You shouldn't waste your breath responding to them.

I'm not certain that suggests it's at risk of cancellation so much as she can't simply keep writing until they're completely through high school. At the pace they're going that'd be like 200-300 chapters or more and the story progression wouldn't really be able to keep up with that.

Well, the real people that sparked this subthread: were they talking about hypothetical future rehabilitation/redemption of Tazune, or about justifying his behavior?

It's never been about justifying his behavior, for me at least. There is no justification for what he did. If anyone thought that's what I was doing, that's a problem with them. I made it very clear early on in the early pages of this discussion that his actions can't be excused, only explained.

Alternatively, you communicated your point ineffectively. And considering just how many people have interpreted what you said differently than you intended, probabilistically it's more likely that this is in fact the case.

Or to put it in other words, what seems more likely? That one person didn't communicate their point the way they wanted or that many people failed to interpret their point correctly? Logically speaking you go with the simpler action which would be that the one person didn't communicate their point effectively.
