I'll be honest, i find the whole "let's take a thing and make it X-TREEEEEEEEM" idea gets kinda dull pretty quick, conceptually.

I want a whole series of the playful couple in Virgins Empire... I feel like the extreme the author tries to reach is, almost, an admission of not being able to reach good tension. I know extreme works have their own appeals as well, so perhaps I'm reading it wrong.

This is boring because the character don't have any depth, or even feelings. There's no story here. Just a string of porn scenes the next more extreme than the previous. They act the way they act just because they are "that way". One enjoys being tortured, the other enjoys torturing. That's it. They don't even seem to like each other. The only thing that connects them are a bunch of silicon toys and lots of fluids. This "relationship" is one-dimensional. The "feelings" at the end are just an afterthought, a justification.

I prefer a good story, where the sex comes as a confirmation of the characters' feelings, to brainless porn where it's the beginning and end of it.

Feelings? In my porn?!!.. I guess I dig it a bit more recently, but porn tend to be just that most of the time.

I could see how this book, taken in isolation, could seem to be just extreme for extreme's sake. It's very much the middle installment of a trilogy. But there are still a few moments of calm that I find oddly charming, and I think it's telling that after Reiko's humiliation at the service area, she's doing everything in the car subsequently out of sheer horniness and enthusiasm.
