I'd assumed they weren't dating at the time or anything, which could have been a mistaken assumption, since the story doesn't provide any such context. Even assuming that they were dating, considering that this is their first real kiss, I'm skeptical that they would have known each other's physical boundaries beforehand or that Maya would have actually known what Claudine wanted when she was asleep. It's not like they had been kissing for ages when Maya did that.
