...that middle-school backstory in ch 144 extra probably explains a lot about her present loathing of clique exclusiveness.

^ I disagree; she actually intervened on Yuri's behalf rather than just tried to get along in 144. There wasn't any certain payoff in that. I thought that it was subtle. You could see it coming but not know it was coming, throughout the chapter. It's a clear background to what's happening here.
