The thing that really gets me is they had tons of opportunities to take really interesting paths and they just didn't. Like there was a subplot of Tatsuki gaining spiritual awareness via shear brute force and martial arts/willpower, in her physical body, with out something special going on with her. That has all sorts of crazy potential, especially with her connection to Orihime... and she was completely forgotten as a character after the time skip... wonderful.
