hmm, good question. I'd say it depends what (my/your/others') mood is at that moment. for example, if you are in a silly mood, does plot really matter?
for me personally, I would say artwork is like bait on a fishing pole's hook. if it is really nice and/or graphically intense, I take the bait and am more inclined to read the rest of the story. as I read the story, if the plot is craptastic or illogical (assuming I am in a semi-serious mood), I stop reading. otherwise I start weighing the merits of character development, plot development, ability to draw the reader into the story, sexual intensity (if i am feeling kinky) and overall satisfaction after reading the story.
I would argue that really good stories are very strong in a majority of the points I have listed above. but this is my opinion and others may beg to differ.
Btw, what kind of genres do you focus on (i.e. sci-fi, fantasy, romance, mysteries, etc.) ? You'll have to forgive me for asking the question this way because I think of GL/Yuri as a sub-genre within the broader realm.
