Cherokee tradition says that it is unhealthy meat which may make you weak & sick.

QED. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think that such disparaging, off-hand remarks at the expense of other users add much value to conversation.

This paragraph serves no purpose other than attempting to stop the post being flagged as spam. It'll be ironic if it works.

Welcome! Glad to see you eventually made the leap. Feel free to get in touch if the spam filter is acting up - it's adjusted every now and then and sure enough, it does sometimes cause unexpected troubles!

Fixed, thanks. And thanks so much to GUMI and Marigold for keeping at it with this series!

Cre58a, I would highly recommend not jumping into threads with harsh generalizations about broad swaths of people. All 5 of your posts follow this same incendiary track, it won't do to continue in this manner.

Throbelisk, try toning down your aggressiveness, as it tends to inflame and prolong discussions that need not be. Each of your posts here displays an escalating lack of respect for your opponent and their views. Disregarding the sanctity, or lack thereof, of your broader position, this escalation undermines both your arguments and the thread at large. While the former is what it is, the latter is unacceptable.

Take care, everyone.

Has there been any indication of when this will conclude? It has been over a decade and as great as it is the relationships can only be teased so long

It's fucking wild this has been running for a decade now, the only other yuri I can think of off the top of my head that is still going after a decade is Yuru Yuri. But to badly answer your question I have no idea lol, haven't seen anything on Kishi's twitter signaling an end is in sight anyways. A lot of these relationships feel like they have a long way to go.

Pretty impressive that the series has survived so long, especially considering 4 magazine jumps (though, for such a long-running series, this isn't that unusual). I remember a time, perhaps a year ago, perhaps two, when the series appeared to be in danger. Kishi tweeted out that the continuation of the series would strongly depend on volume sales. Cue a few first-hand stories of otakus going to buy out their local bookstore, only to find that someone else already had. Thankfully, haven't heard nor seen any talk of trouble since!

Actually addressing the length of time for pairings - looking at page counts, I don't think the length of pages that characters have waffled on extends that far beyond other works in the genre. Yet it can feel quite unprecedented when considering the length of time, though.

Good points, all. I especially appreciated those other artists you mentioned, though as I considered further, there were quite a few more I would add to the list. Perhaps surprise was an improper emotion. We've seen so many strong serialized artists come out of the Touhou scene or fall out of it, I suppose Yonurime's significant longevity separated them in my mind as an outlier. Given that I don't quite follow the scene anymore, this may too be inaccurate.

Writing new, original stuff is... hard and often punishing, especially when you have to pitch it to heartless, market-obsessed publishers instead of a warm community of adoring and supportive fans at conventions. There's also the merciless scheduling of serializations, the push to test well with major demographics, the demands and standards of editors, and a million other obstacles.

I would add, briefly, that publishing original content is gradually becoming easier. Speaking solely from the yuri community, publications like Galette, and anthology collections like Yuri Liquer offer significant, semi-traditional avenues. Then there are web publications, self-publishing through Pixiv, Twitter, or even monetized platforms like Booth. Of course, even if we assume a desire, there are surely some who would find none of the options available to them acceptable.

At least Yonurime's still producing manga as of last year

And of course, I'm forever grateful to any artist who sticks with it!

Lots of stuff to address but for now I'll just go with the most recent ones.

The link back to the chapter or series at the top of the forum threads has gone missing. The name is still there, but it's not a link. This is on my android phone. It's still missing even if I tell it to use the desktop site.

Never mind, it's back. What happened?

Okay, I figured it out. The link is only there when I'm logged into the site. Is this a recent change? Is it supposed to be this way?

Yes, this change was made within the last month or so for technical reasons. It is possible that in the coming weeks or months a nicer solution to the technical issue(s) will be found, but for the meantime this is just how the site will operate. It is very likely the links will not return for non-registered users, so I do apologise for the inconvenience!

Let people use some sort of api to download/search manga and series etc.
Maybe $1 per user ?

Sorry, I'm not aware of this being a possibility in the near future.

I was surprised, while digging, to find almost no evidence of Yonurime ever branching out to original works. Surely the quality of art, construction and writing is strong enough for publication? Yet their work remains pretty safely contained in a handful of doujin spheres. All I managed to find was a listing for chapter 8 of Yuliquer Alxohol x Yuri, sadly untranslated!

It's actually a reference to this optional scene where the party finds an abandoned baby and Rita and Estelle take care of it for a day. Warning: sugar overload. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeEJufI8GkI

Tfw you were an Xbox kid and never even knew this existed in the Definitive Edition...Thanks so much for sharing! Really made my day. I guess you can tell it's quite late in the game, given how chill Rita is when Estelle is flirting with her...

The March 2020 releases were exclusively done by one member of the boards, who requested them and asked that they be uploaded under the Gaku Gaku Animal Land name. Unfortunately, Gensokyo is dead.

There were a lot of structural and circumstantial issues that more or less pointed this way for the last 3 or 4 years (at least) before the site finally disappeared for good. At the end, there weren't more than a handful of part-timers left. Thanks so much to everyone who ever participated on voile, it was a blast. Really is extraordinary how much was accomplished.

Is Discord down for anyone else?

Nope. When Discord is having issues it's often affecting specific locations much more than others. Hope it's back soon, though.

After playing among us in public lobbies, I have started to lose some of my faith in humanity

Always good to remember that it's not so much faith in humanity you're losing, but faith in children. A lot of them grow out of it, shocking as it may seem.

Can we appreciate how Shinra-Bansho made a better yuri story in five minutes than anything that's come out in the past year? If only music videos could get anime adaptations.

Heck yeah still waiting on that continuation.

Hi! Sorry, the banner message you're referring to is confusing and no longer applicable, but can't be easily changed as of now. The series - and plenty more - is licensed, but that does not necessarily mean all licensed material on the site is removed, or removed immediately. In most cases, we will continue to post new updates based on what the original scanlation team chooses to do. In this case, they've continued working on the series, so we're continuing to host it. In most cases when content is removed by the scanlation teams, it seems that they would prefer to remove the content as soon as it is licensed.

In sum, the banner message is true for some but not all, and when the content will be removed is subject to the decisions of people "outside" the site, so I'm not able to comment on those directly. If you see the banner saying the content has been removed and the content is still there, it's safe to assume it will remain there in the future.

SPEAKING OF SHIPS, do you all remember which one was your first ship? (full yuri works like Strawberry Panic! don't count!) mine was without a doubt KagamixKonata

Kirika x Mireille. I'm sad that I didn't have the foresight to start cataloguing all the old GeoCities fansites before most of them closed...

which do you prefer? Pages of analysis and criticisms going through every panel OR short and concise '"troll" comments?

Frankly, I'm not convinced you've made many posts I'd prefer existed in the first place. There's quite a leap between productive conversation and your general behaviour on these forums. Rather than attempt to engage in discussion, your posts make singular, matter-of-fact statements which serve little purpose in advancing discourse. Many are filled with bile, directed at artists or other users. Content aside, we know the effects your posts have on this thread, and that of Nettaigyo. They serve to reinforce old, tired arguments, and pull regulars down the same ground they've already tread. I'm unceasingly bewildered by those who pay them any time of day. I'll forgive those users, given that they actually attempt to discuss a given story on its own merits otherwise.

You've mentioned in the past that criticism drives more discussion than praise, but it seems your preoccupation with driving discussion comes at the expense of quality discourse. Your words could meanwhile span hundreds of pages with razor-like precision, if they cover these same topics they would be just as tired and uninteresting. Given that the content of your current posts amount to personal pet peeves repeated ad nauseam, I don't see length making the situation any better.

I leave short criticizing comments is because whenever I try to start a long drawn out conversation your moderators always come in and tell me its too much.

As far as I can tell you've been reprimanded once, during a personal spat in which your posts averaged about two lines. You're welcome to correct me if this is a misconception.

Unfortunately, there's no feedback system for us to respond to requests with. Further, we do get dozens of requests per day, the majority of which are images. Images are posted on the site once every 3-4 days. If your request is accepted, it wouldn't be unusual to wait several weeks to see it pop up. Best of luck with them!

(and you'd be especially hard-pressed to find criticisms of popular shows on their respective subreddits).

There's also a tendency for people with negative views in general to be driven out, whether by active moderation or other extremely defensive users. Which brings me to...

The idea is that people who find that a series isn't for them choose to leave after a certain point, because consuming entertainment that doesn't entertain you is rather counterproductive, unless you're getting paid to write a critique or have legitimate criticisms about why something is problematic

While it's a nice idea and broadly true, I think if you look hard enough you'll find active thought leaders with reasonably substantial followings in just about any significant fandom. I recently watched She-Ra and found it to be a satisfying if imperfect show. While gleaning around for content, YouTube was sure to recommend me multiple accounts that have made - and are still making, for a show that ended in May - dozens of videos worth of negative content for it. The type that makes you stop and wonder, why is this person investing their time in a show that's clearly not for them, and why is their audience doing the same? RWBY and Korra also seem to be good examples of this from the outside.

I'd also mention that in cases around this forum, the repetitive negative comments typically echo broader community discussions about the "true" definitions of Yuri, the role of males in yuri stories, or "hot topics of 2020" like bisexuality.

All of which is of course not to take away from your structural analysis of how Dynasty's setup may incentivise some of this behaviour.

"I guess you could chalk it down to something like stupidity or denial or instigation or hate-reading,"

Or to enjoying the series overall, while still seeing problems in it, in this case an annoying ambiguity or coyness. People can enjoy things without finding them perfect.

While generally possible and true, there's quite a difference between what you're suggesting and what Gridman is doing, which is more or less low-effort trolling. This is the fifth time he's returned to this particular thread to make this exact point in a dismissive and nonconstructive manner.

Akira is wonderful, it's so interesting that she's this divisive character. Really looking forward to her continuing to grow.

And Mayuki is ascending to a being of pure thirst.

She is growing too powerful.

But the younger teens joining the program were very open and out, and vocal about it. They came from supportive families, had queer and straight friends who accepted each other and all hung out together, and they could never understand the challenges the older teens had faced. It's kind of weird that there was such a huge gap in experiences with such a small gap in years

This seems - to me - pretty universal, at least in the US. Certainly it's something I've experienced, and seen plenty of anecdotal situations matching the general template. A difference of even 4 or 5 years can make the experiences so foreign you'd be surprised at how few similarities actually remain. It feels like a downwind effect of national politics, with the US fighting over an anti-gay constitutional amendment in 2004, to gay marriage itself being legalized just 11 years later.
