I was wondering when this ship would show up. I've never seen the Tangled tv series, but I have seen a ton of Cassandra x Rapunzel fanart. Can anyone who's seen the show explain why the ship is so popular?

Never seen the show either, but I think I saw clips of how how incredibly friendly and close they are, so I'm sure you could find a compilation of cute moments between them if your okay with spoilers

@Norainhere i believe some dynamics are very much "friends to enemies" type, so we just added the "to lovers?" at the end to give some spice to it. Cassandra is implied to not be straight throughout the series, both for her relationship with Rapunzel, for not having a male love interest and for literally laughing at the idea of being with a men. The strong loyalty and friendship Rapunzel and Cassandra have towards each other was too awesome not to ship it. Also, their relationship and the Sun and Moon symbolism related to them is kinda similar Himeko and Chikane's from Kannazuki no Miko (except for the extremely bad plot decisions the mangaka decided to take :/)

@Norainhere They basically got shipped not only cause Cassandra is implied to not be straight, but also because at one point in the series Rapunzel herself literally states how much she loves Cassandra. I don't remember very well but I think Rapunzel also called Cassandra her soulmate.

Checked out clips from YouTube. It has nice animation very similar to the current Carmen Sandiego series. I can also totally see where this ship comes from.

The ship is so cute, but there was never hope because Rapunzel is already Flynns wife. But stil.. we can ship them lol.

^Flynn could have a little accident lol.. But yeah, you are right. Probably half the reason they felt it was safe to play with the ship a bit.

people not knowing Cassandra/not watching this series make me extremely sad. They're close friends, have chemistry and Cassandra literally do tons of shit just to make Rapunzel happy.
But then Disney got concerned about how close they were so they decided to make her the villain (which is urgh) so you know, they could send her off far away never to be seen again. Oh well, Flynn is a good egg so I don't really mind it. (Edit: ok so I do mind it a whole damn lot. So I go and read/write fanfics, don't judge me)
@elevown ss3 ended it March. I don't think there will be another season so yes, it's finished.
For people who want to watch it, don't expect yuri. There will be hints if you squint but well, Flynn is still her love interest guys. The art is good, the story is decent and the characters are well-developed imo. It's a really good cartoon series, truly not what I was expecting when I first watched it.
The first season starts off a bit slow, stick around till ep9, that's when the real drama starts to kick in.

@zokoi I also love this show, love Cassandra, and love this ship. It's one of my favorite. But Disney didn't just get scared and decide to make her a villain. That was planned from the very beginning and was very clearly set up throughout the entire series. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it was obvious who her mom was from the second Cassandra showed up. She's basically a younger copy of her. It wasn't just sprung up out of nowhere. (Not that Disney wouldn't turn someone into a villain because people starting shipping them in a gay couple, it's just not what happened here. It's more just queerbaiting at it's finest, cause they knew having some subtext would bring in the queer audience, while Eugene/Flynn was there to keep it solidly hetero.)
