Some notes on tagging

On the distinction between Yuri and Futanari

Tags are a means of categorizing content on the site such that it is easier to find what one wishes to find, and avoid what one wishes to avoid. In general, we do not mix the Futanari and Transgender tags. In general, we do not mix the Yuri and Futanari tags, unless both are separately present. This does not mean that women with penises do not exist. However, we draw a distinction between Futanari as a genre and Yuri that simply happens to have a Transgender character.

Futanari may be appealing to some trans readers, but it is also unappealing to many others. Futanari as a genre tends to differ rather greatly from the Yuri genre, or more nuanced and grounded stories that may appear in the Transgender tag. By treating these genres distinctly, we are able to more accurately portray the contents of a given story. If you, the reader, wish to consider Futanari equivalent to Yuri, or Transgender, or both, you are more than welcome to do so.

As always, there will be exceptions. Some stories may exist that bridge the gap(s) between the two genres, and those stories will be tagged appropriately.

On tag suggestions:

Certain tags, like Rape and Violence are meant to warn readers of story elements they do not wish to see. These ought to be tagged even if a story contains only small amounts of them, given that seeing them may be sufficiently unpleasant for many readers.

Other tags, like Bisexual and Bath are meant to describe story elements that appear in a meaningful way. A bath being present for 1 page in a 20 page manga hardly qualifies said manga for the Bath tag. This tag is better used in onsen, public bathing, or stories in which the bath itself is of other significant relevance. A girl having dated a boy once or making a single comment in a 20 page manga that "this is her first time with a girl" hardly qualifies said manga for the Bisexual tag. This tag should describe characters who earn the tag with their actions or communicate their identity through their words.

In sum, we are less interested in the technical definition of the tag, and more interested in providing suitably curated content to folks interested in those tags in the first place.

A note on rule application for past events

Rules are only considered as being in effect from the date that they are codified in the Rules thread. Past offences previously not codified are not and will never be considered when weighing disciplinary action. However, in some rare cases, certain past posts may be removed upon review of their respective threads. This is not a statement about any individual users' posting habits, or a judgement of them as a person. Rather, we find it preferable to remove the most blatant forms of toxicity when we encounter it, regardless of the post's age or the poster in question. You may refer to two examples here and here. Bugs

1. When using an adblocker or Ghostery, the Lists feature may not work as intended. You may disable those services on the site - we don't run ads and never will. If you wish to keep those services enabled, opening the desired list button as a new tab will allow chapters to be added to a list.

2. It is possible for new accounts to get caught in the spam filter when they use the "Preview Post" button too frequently on a single post, or use certain phrases. If you have trouble with this, please contact us and we'll get you sorted.

3. In rare circumstances, the blacklist / whitelist feature can have unexpected consequences. Please contact us if you have troubles with this feature.

4. For technical reasons, the linkback from a forum thread to its linked manga is unavailable when not logged into the site. This is not a bug.

How do I delete my account?

I know a manga or image that should be on the site, how do I upload?

You may use the Upload Request feature - also available in the dropdown menu by your username - for any work you believe belongs on the site, and we will review and (if approved) add the suggestion when possible. Please note in your request if you are the artist/commissioner/translator, etc. as this will speed up our process significantly (you do not need to do this if your username makes this obvious).

Will I receive feedback on my upload requests / tag suggestions?

Unfortunately due to a variety of factors, we are unable to easily respond to individual upload requests or tag suggestions. If your request has not made it onto the site within a few weeks, any user is welcome to broach those topics in the Help thread. Should you wish for a more private setting, you may reach out via email or on Discord. We do our best to be clear and consistent in our tagging choices, but we do miss things from time to time. Tag requests or discussion within a chapter's thread are acceptable to a point, but these will not be immediately sent to us for review. Why is my favourite series still on the Reader even though it was licensed?

Any work licensed in the US will be removed at the discretion of the publisher(s) and scanlation team(s) involved. Works that lack a scanlation until after the manga has been licensed are not typically uploaded, but exceptions may be made.

Is it possible to sort manga by rating/views/etc.?

No, we do not offer public data of that nature. You may wish to visit the Recommendations Thread for recommendations.

Forum Rules

1. First, and above all, remember that everyone is here to have fun and enjoy yuri together. Being overly aggressive, insulting, or generally a jerk is against the rules. This includes:

   -Hate speech, racism, sexism, etc. By the same token, do not refer to trans people and/or crossdressers as "traps."

   -Wishing harm upon artists, scanlators, other users, or basically any other living person.

   -Backseat moderating, i.e. "You're gonna get banned when the mods come," "How have you not been banned yet?" "Is such a short ban really acceptable?" etc. You may report any concerning posts in the Help thread and they will be reviewed by the mod team.

2. Spammers will be shot. Kitchen reno spammers will be shot twice.

3. We encourage the promotion of yuri works or projects by members of the community and do not consider such promotion to be spam. To advertise your work, please use a relevant thread, post in the Dynasty Cafe, or create a new thread for yourself.

4. Insulting scanlators or artists is unacceptable, and will result in your comment and possibly you being removed from the forum. They work hard to bring us the yuri we love, and they don’t need abuse for it. Do not ask, plead, or beg for more or quicker releases. It may be acceptable to seek an update on a series that appears to be sitting dormant, but always do so respectfully. Anyone found to be violating this rule may be subject to permanent removal from the site.

5. Do not link to Mangakalot, Mangahere, or any other illegal, profit-driven online reader. Links will be removed once spotted by staff. Frequent attempts to link to these sources will result in a ban. Links to publishers site's, scanlator's sites, MangaDex and e-hentai are perfectly acceptable.

6. There is NO rule 6.

7. No linking to unauthorized scans of material on Lezhin, such as Pulse or What Does the Fox Say. Lezhin are very protective of their copyright, and we'd rather avoid landing the reader in hot water. Generally speaking, links to online-hosted Korean material (manhwa) should be avoided.

8. No avatars with live-action porn or inflammatory language. Staff may ask you to change your avatar if it is deemed offensive. Failure to do so may result in account removal.

9. Off-topic posting and conversation should generally be kept to a minimum. Thread derailment or re-purposing is unacceptable in all cases. Threads attached to specific manga are meant primarily for discussion related to that manga. Users are encouraged to visit the Dynasty Cafe, where you will be able to talk about any subject you like. Mods reserve the right to delete, without notice, spillover content from other threads and other chronic off-topic content.

10. Tags are meant to inform users so that they may interact with works that appeal to them, and avoid those which do not. Avoid making repetitive comments on works with tags you wish to avoid. Repeat offenders may be disciplined as necessary. This rule also applies to pairing tags. Do not engage in "shipping wars" in doujin threads or image comments.

11. Homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia are grounds for immediate removal from the site. These sentiments are acceptable under precisely zero circumstances.

12. Harassment is never acceptable, on these forums or anywhere else. Any user found to be harassing artists we host on this site will be permanently removed without discretion.

In all cases, Staff reserve the right to interpret the rules as they see fit. We strive for fairness and appropriate case-by-case judgement.

There are always a variety of reasons for us being late. In recent times we've had some really significant technical issues that made adding new series a very arduous process. I hope that we're past that, and a lot of the yuri out there we're missing will be added in the coming months.

Most likely, this is a joke that crops up in doujins, fan art, and very small comedic web comics. If you don't read those, you might not see it. More importantly, this art hits me in the same spot as Itou Hachi, which is a bit...

& some other comic I read a week ago used it. I can't recall the name, but it was about a schoolgirl prepositioning her classmate for sex repeatedly, while offering to pay her.

Shouraiteki ni Shindekure is the one, I think, and it's really funny.

Well, I wanted to post but you guys are really into this.

We're going completely away from the topic of the manga, again. Meta discussions have their place, but this one is not only rote, it's going in circles at this point. Every relevant point on this topic appears to have been made. Please, let's agree to disagree and move on.

Edit: In the future, I think it's important to remember that not every point made demands a rebuttal. There is often more value in reading and digesting opposing views rather than picking them apart in an effort to "win" a given argument.

Further posts on body dysmorphia, the split between fiction/reality, and really anything else, are welcome in the Cafe.
