Wait. I was under the impression Tomimi already confessed, but Gavial rejected her saying she only thinks of her as a little sister. Wasn't that what happened at the end of Great Chief?

Sorry, was more busy than I expected. Welp, got a lot to catch up on...

Also last time when I was writing my post, I was actually rushing, so I forgot to mention few things.

Kal'tsit the philosopher has entered the chat but lol yes, that's just how it is and I've accepted it already.

To be fair, I never had issue with it before. I thought so far dialogue was perfectly fine and never dragged more than necessary. It was first time (at least in main story, I barely read any event stories, but from ones I read, I didn't have issue with them either) I felt that way.

Have to disagree with this one but I suppose YMMV on possession.

Well I guess my main issue with it was that the story was depressing as is and I got invested in Reunion's story, so the fact their downfall wasn't really their fault stung that much more (outside of possessing someone is just shitty thing to do and feels bad in general). And sure, I get dark stuff happens in the stories, especially ones like Arknights and I used to be fine with it, but over time I became much weaker to that kind of stuff and usually need to be in mood for more depressing stories. Which bring me to one of things I forgot, I have to say Arknights' setting is really good not just in the sense that world building is done well, but that it feels so realistic and captures actual reality so well, It felt a bit too real for me. At some point reading episode 8 became kinda too much for me, because of how realistically shitty the world is and I just wasn't in mental space for that.

Also, the one monologue of the heretical priest in M8-1 is implied to his previous host before Kashchey since they both espoused the same Social Darwinist idea.

Och, interesting. I thought more he was just agreeing with him, but that's interesting take.

For the main story, the possession of Talulah serves as a contrast to what maybe a "possession" of Amiya

Och, I totally understood that.

tho it remains to be seen how that will go since interpretations can go from all of Theresa is in Amiya to Amiya just has her powers and bit of her memories but she's her own person.

Based on trailer for episode 9, my personal take is that Theresa did possess Amiya body, but at some point she decided to give control back to Amiya and disappear completely, leaving the Fiend's power or w/e that is to Amiya.

Before I even finished reading it, I immediately thought "Magneto right?" and lo and behold you did mention him as your analogy.

Funnily enough, I didn't really think about him at first. I was thinking about my issues with story and how I'd change it and when I got to point where I had to explain why Talulah would start killing and not caring about normal humans, I came up with my reason and then thought "Huh. Isn't that totally like Magneto?"

That was a fun read.

Thanks!

Not a fan of the artillery drones and definitely the overall difficulty felt higher than before.

Well, I do hope they start to increase diff of at least main story or it'll stop being challenge at some point.

But nothing as gimmicky as chapter 6.

You mean chill/freeze mechanic? I hate those with passion. With other mechanics, you usually can at least work around them, but with it you have no option and just need to accept the disadvantage.

Tho I could also see just having high res defenders tank the fireballs since they only come from one direction.

Yea. That's partially what I did.

The exploding crystals tho. Not quite sure how to deal with those other than having snipers on hand.

You can use fast redeployment too. I kinda ignored them, cos they either missed my operators, got destroyed cos they got caught in crossfire when throwing everything at Talulah or simply my operators were able to tank the damage.

Add the creepiness of being obsessed with Talulah and becoming Talulah.

Yea, that was another reason why I was so confused and had hard time telling whatever it was supposed to be Talulah in control or Snake, cos sometimes he'd talk as if he was Talulah

Only the Rosmontis and Feline Shieldbro one was significant.

And even that arguably didn't amount to much. Like until he removed helmet it was all information we already knew. He respects Rosmontis and is willing to let her join Gurillas, but she's too gay for Amiya to do it. And even the fact he's a feline really didn't mean much outside of being unexpected.

The one with random operators felt like the biggest waste of potential. Like, I get what they were going for, but it was neither informative nor funny. Also Pith showing up only meant anything if you played Integrated Strategies and still all it boiled down to was a easter egg.

I do want to consider the Mephisto one as significant but I was expecting more. It does imply he might be back in some form but I didn't need an entire speech from Kal'tsit and most of that speech being redundant.

Exactly. I really expected something more concrete. I was sure we'll actually get to see Mephisto in it, but it ended up really feeling like waste of time. On that topic I was really disappointed with that part of story. Like the whole Mephisto got turned into a bird was weird and kinda anticlimactic. Like when I heard about it (and all I knew/saw was stages where you fight him) I thought the twist was like he wasn't human from the get go and he got turned into human from bird or something, which made sense with him being good at singing and being force-fed orginium, but no, he just randomly went into machine that Doctor was in. Like, why? I thought the explanation will be that he was in such bad shape, other reunion members put him there trying to heal him or something and it went horribly wrong. It just didn't make any sense and felt more like they had that idea, but didn't know how naturally get into that point. Honestly after Faust's sacrifice and Mephisto being broken I wanted to have a proper another encounter with him again. Maybe we'd see him being change/moved by what happened. Hell, maybe we could start his redemption arc or something there. And sure if they ever do bring him back into story, I bet that's when we'll get it then, but that wouldn't feel nearly as organic.

I guess it does bring the question who the fuck is Doctor anyway, another ageless? some immortal being? Something entirely different? All I'm sure, he's clearly not human. On that topic Kal'tsit is clear not normal either.

The 12F one lol. Lowlight might as well appear on the screen, look at the player and go "You. You're the Doctor."

Yea. Like it'd be cool if he addressed players directly and thank us for playing, say he hopes we like the story and maybe drop some hints for stuff that's to come (that would be actually worth the hassle unlocking it), but instead we got this mad rumbling that made no sense in context of the game.

And then the reveal that Wei's Shadow Guards are former Emperor's Blades.

Och! I didn't quite catch that, so nice!

Personally, I was satisfied with the post-battle Ch'en and Talulah interaction. Yeah shame we didn't see the initial talk but tbh, that would have mostly been Koshchey anyway and would just be him calling Ch'en his "sister" and that was creepy enough with the number of times he kept doing it.

Fair point. And yea, I was happy with post-battle part too. As I said, it was really good. On that topic, another thing that kinda ended up never being properly explained (or at least I couldn't figure it out/follow it) and is clearly a important event that is constantly brought up is what the flying fuck happened exactly the night Talulah got kindapped? What is that whole thing about Ch'en betraying her. And what's up with implication Snake might have messed with Ch'en's mind as well?

This being the last scene was a good end.

Yea. It struck me right into feels. On that topic, forgot to mention Ch'en is looking amazing here

I forgot about 10 roll tickets, so I actually did 137 rolls. After mulling it over a lot, I figured I don't really care about anyone in the future that much and I was really hyped about Rosmontis and I saved all those resources, so there's no point not rolling them, so I rolled more. With all my stuff + free daily rolls, I reached 300 rolls. Got 2 more Rosmontis and sad Aak spook (first on Nian banner and now, now. Well, gotta promote him someday for all the back-shooting memes stare) Got another dozen of Whisperains, few more 5 stars I don't remember now, but I think I liked half of them. I do remember I finally dropped Beeswax in like last 2 rolls. So overall got 4 copies of Rosmontis (1 from token shop) so I can't really complain and I have been using her all the time since then. Also immediately mastered all her 3 skills (had mats prepared for S3, had to farm a little for S2 and wasn't in rush with S1, so it took me a week or 2. I do like those kind of skills and I think her's is not bad, but yea, I never used it once so far, but I mastered it just for completion sake) I regret nothing.

Beat all stages and challenges in Code of Brawler without much issue. CB-EX7 gave me a little trouble, but I still won it relatively easy. My strategy didn't really work and I kinda brute forced it. Bought copy of Red from cert shop and got her guarantee from recruitment, which was awesome. Also got another copy of Indra around the same time and got another Top operator. I could get guarantee Siege I believe, so I run it solo hoping for getting someone I don't have yet and make picking from my guarantee 6 star easier, but sadly got Shining dupe. Also got elusive senior tag like week later. I also had nuker and caster + healing (Nightmare guarantee) with it, which sucked and like, as per usual, but I still run it with guard + dps cos that guaranteed either Swire, Astesia or Indra. As long as it wasn't Swire, I was fine with either, but I lucked out and got another Indra. Pretty sure I could also try to go for Glaucus, but I figured I'm in no rush to get her and I think I could get her with crowd control which meant potential Mayer and ignoring fact I already maxed her, i'd really hate if I got her again.

I was really miffed that we got another CC already, cos I still didn't fully prepared for it (and now i'm even more miffed that another CC has been already announced not that long from now). I got much more E2 operators, but still not everyone I wanted + I'm nowhere near finishing with mastering all skills I want. I was in middle of slowly mastering skills of operators I E2 so far, before planning to E2 more, but as soon as I saw it was announced, I knew I had to prioritize, so I spend week before CC E2'ing Bagpipe, which paid off in spades. Managed to reach risk 18 relatively easily on second day. I'm pretty sure I put Angelina here when trying to beat some contracts, but she kept dying to Grudgebearer when I pulled him, so I guess for risk 18 I put her at the bottom instead. I actually didn't save my risks/end card after my first 18 clear, cos I assumed i'll try for higher risks and so saving 18 will be pointless, but I wasn't really in mood/didn't have time to mess too much so I ended up not going for more risks. Either way ignoring Angelina, that should have been my setup for risk 18 (the guy you can't see hiding under Grudgebearer is Hellagur). Bagpipe got later replaced with Mudrock. As for risks, I think I got those.

While I didn't engage with perma map too much, I did my best to try max risk daily missions. I didn't bother with Broken Path, because I really hate invisible spiders risk and flame ground mechanic is too unreliable and pain to use. I only did risk 8 for new Area 6 Ruins map as well, cos I run out of time, but I feel like if I had worked on it a bit longer, I'd do the max risk. I was really proud of max risking Transport Hub cos I really hate this map. I was really proud of beating Deserted Factory as well, since I usually struggle hard with lower dmg risks, since my operators are not strong enough to offset it, so during CC#2 I avoided picking it. My setup. Wasn't much different from what I did for perma map. The biggest problem was with killing both Red Avengers and Faust. From what I remember I ended up letting 1 weeb pass, cos I just couldn't find a way to kill him, since I blown all cooldowns on first one. I had issues with killing first one as well, but Rosmontis stunlock in deathzone ended up being just what I needed. Considering I hate freeze mechanic, I did really well on Frost-Covered Ruins. Had to skip Iceclevers risk, not because I wasn't able to kill them, but because it took all I had to kill 1 and so skills didn't recharge before next one would show up and I couldn't figure a way to stall them. Pyrite Gorge on week 1 wasn't too hard. I couldn't max risk East Armory, because I have no idea how to beat it with 10 tiles restriction and even if, I wouldn't be able to pull it off with my current operators. Also It made me realize, that while I have a lot of snipers, I don't have a lot of them E2'd so after that I started working on them. Also After E2'ing Bagpipe, I started initially working on E2'ing Mudrock, but then I figured I should finally E2 Saria instead, since I do use her often as healer defender and her S3 is really useful for high difficulty challenge missions like this.

Week 2 I give Broken Path my all. Couldn't pull it off with -50% attack, so not max risk, but for map I dislike, I still did well. My setup since I really like doing it in weird way (cos doing it with "proper" way is pain and unreliable). Again, couldn't pull max risk on Area 6 Ruins, cos couldn't do it with -40% attack and run out of time to try. Pretty much copypasta my strat from week 1 for Transport Hub with slight modifications and really proud, cos I never figured a reliable strategy for this map, especially with terminal removal, until now. Not happy that I only did risk 8 for Deserted Factory second time, but that was mostly cos I never picked balista risk before, so I had to figure out my strat from scratch and I run out of time for it. I was actually pretty close, but meh. Support ban really hit me, since my main slowers are all supports, so Saria's S3 really came in handy for Pyrite Gorge. Again, couldn't pull East Armory with lower dmg risk. If I had master May's skill/E2 Platinum, then maybe I'd pull it off. Was happy with everything else otherwise.

I really didn't care about Mountain, since he seemed like another boring broken operator you deploy and then forget about them, as they solo entire line for you like Thorns, so I was positively surprised when I got spooked by Rosa. Sucks didn't got Kafka, since I like fast-rede operators, but can't exactly complain.

Game trolled me again, when I got 6 star from my 10 roll on Eunectes banner and got really hyped, only for it to turn out it to be another Siege stare. Also was really hoping Shamare would be in cert shop, but she wasn't. It was fine, since I dropped her on my first 10 roll on Schwarz banner. I really lowkey wished I'd drop her, as then Mostima would be the last option from my guarantee 6 star ticket. I was thinking a lot about it and I really don't need Schwarz asap and it'd probably take me some time before I'd get around to investing in her anyway. She's cool and when her niche applies, she's great, but also I don't really feel like I really need her rn. I ended up trying to roll a bit, since not like I'm saving for anyone. Rolled my tickets first and literally with my 10th ticket (out of 16) I got 6 star... Surtr ;v Madoka damn it game! I rolled 20 rolls more, but didn't get Schwarz and only 1 5 star (Ptilopsis I think), which like was nice, but not that much. Kinda felt like those 30 rolls were wasted, but w/e. So since that was last banner before my ticket expires, I went and picked Mostima. Sadly since I spend my certs on tickets, I don't have 180 certs to buy Schwarz (and still not sure if it's good idea), so I guess I'll see if i manage to get enough before banner ends and if not, then I'll grab my first copy of Glaucus instead (I currently have 122, so it's not like I'm not close).

E2'd Utage, Graval, May, Ambriel, Cutter, W and Platinum. Also M3 Platinum's S2 already. Sucks it got sored a bit, by this whole stupid controversy.

Also beat all Mansfield stages on first day and perma farm MB-7 for Aketon. Can't wait for challenge stages to open so I can be challenged. I like the new gimmick and Jailer's design is great. He has so much personality. Can't wait for challenges so he'll be actually hard to beat (then again I used 6 stars so). Skipped story for now, idk when I'll actually read it.

Also finally tried Hell stages, since I didn't even touch them yet. Beat H8-1 only after 5 attempts, but H8-2 is already giving me trouble, so I'll need to spend more time on it.

Hopefully I didn't forgot anything I wanted to say...

Peaceful co-existence is certainly not impossible, but AI behaving against our wishes, maybe even violently, is a very real, very dangerous possibility. My problem with the vast majority of sci-fi about AI is that the idea tends to be "AI deserve the same rights as humans", which is certainly a noble goal, but not necessarily a good one. We have no idea what AI will be capable of in the future, it's not unreasonable (and actually quite wise) to worry about our safety.

I honestly never really thought much about it. Any discourse I ever heard about AI in movies was usually how it's a obvious allegory for slavery. I guess I looked at it as more like in case of Vivy and similar cases, not as true self-aware AI that can go into internet etc. and more like a self-aware machine, like robot etc. so in this case it wouldn't be like omnipotent hacker or w/e that can destroy humanity, and while it definitely can still do bad things, not giving them freedom would look much worse. But yes, if we talk like about something that can launch nukes at you like Skynet, then I guess I can see how people would be worried about their safety first.

It seems like the AI already have a shared consciousness/network of some sort because of that tower. That being the case I don't think it's out of the question for a sudden shift in the behavior of all AI to be possible.

Fair point. I forgot all AI in the series are connected by some kind wi-fi to gets regular updates and what not. It didn't really seem to be in constant contact with each other and sharing ideas or getting influenced, but maybe we just didn't see it. I guess there was that 1 time when Vivy was directly informed about stuff happening at the amusement park from some guard AI, so they do can connect each other whenever they want, but still so far show present each AI more as individual than hive mind so I'm not buying all of them would just agree to go kill off humans at the same time. Like especially Vivy that specifically kept people alive, because of her 1 goal.

That said, changing that period of time so that humans don't go extinct is a good first step to finding better, more permanent solutions. :P

Can't argue with that xP

That's the goal that it was given, I don't think being onboard with that is much of a choice.

Again fair point.

Somewhat off-topic, but I want to take this chance to plug Robert Miles. He's an AI safety researcher and he makes great videos talking about AI. I highly recommend watching some of his videos if anyone's interested in the future of artificial intelligence. He has also done a series of videos on AI for Computerphile that are equally as interesting.

I checked few videos and it all looks very interesting, again since as I said I heard very little about issues and concerns around developing AI.

SushiKnight posted:

It certainly seems like all the things that hes been getting Vivy to do have resulted in the opposite effect of what his stated mission is. That said, Vivy did handle the previous incidents (especially the Sunrise crash) differently from how he told her to, so it's hard to say whether these results are what he's really after or if they were just flukes.

To be honest I feel like that's what anime is going for. I understand your points about AI can go rogue and we won't be able to stop it etc. but so far show failed to make any real case against AI and in fact is doing everything to show it in as positive light as possible. All the AI we met as far (i'm currently at episode 8 and from it's ending it seems like we have 1 case of AI actually going rogue, but since I didn't see episode 9 I don't know the explanation for it) are 100% good, help people etc. They clearly show compassion and that AI can co-exist and be very helpful to humans. In fact it's always the people who are shown in negative light. Like the terrorist group tried to stop AI from advancing, because it's bad and evil and then the same AI saves one of those terrorist and the lesson he takes from it is that AI is still evil and he still should try to destroy it, just avoid human causalities? Or those scientist that took the AI waifu apart without considering her feelings or getting her consent.

As I said before, show didn't even bother to give us reason why AI decided to rebel, it just did. Almost as if it didn't matter and they just needed a excuse to tell the story they wanted to tell. What I want to say is that I think that the moral of the show will be that AI is good and that we shouldn't discriminate it and peacefully co-exist with it instead. That Matsumoto is wrong with trying to hold AI back and that whenever he tries to stop it, history course-corrects itself and his actions only develops AI faster. Idk if I'm right, but show definitely doesn't feel like it's telling a cohesive story or has a cohesive theme. We're kept being told AI is bad and evil, but we constantly see contradicting evidence for it.

On slightly different note, that's just my personal feelings on episode 7, but I really didn't like the way story went here. Actually when I started watching it, the last available episode turned on first by default, so I watched episode 7, think it's episode 1. So after I finished it, I realized I was watching wrong one and started from beginning, but I already knew that Vivy is going to change. I'm a really big fan of those kind of stoic, rational, no-nonsense characters, so I really liked Vivy's initial character, but I figured as time goes on and she gathers more experiences from helping Matsumoto, she'll become more human and develop her personality to what we saw in episode 7. That's why I was incredibly disappointed when it turned out that we skipped all that progress and she became like that off-screen, while having amnesia, so we don't even know how much of it was the influence of her journey with Matsumoto. Sure it was nice she used some references to events she didn't remember, but overall I really wanted to see her getting to that point naturally and see her incorporating more stuff like that herself instead of just using it, because she heard it, but didn't remember from where. Overall that amnesia thing made such big shift to the story, it pretty much made me feel like I'm watching different show with different main character and I'm honestly not sure how much I like it. I do like her personality there, but it just didn't feel like we reached that point naturally.

Regardless, the ending to episode 6 was certainly something. I'm probably gonna wait til ep. 8 is available before starting ep. 7, since they seem to be doing 2 episode-long arcs for each incident.

I know it was a long time since then, but I was curious about it. When you posted that, episode 8 just dropped day before, so I was wondering if you're watching it somewhere legally or something?

Also. Hey anime? Can I ask you a favor? I get that animating vehicles is hard, but if you need to use a lot of CGI for vehicles in an action scene, could you maybe try a LITTLE harder to make it look uniform? Or just go all the way! I promise you that fully-3D anime can look really good! Just look at ex-arm! At least stop swapping between 2D animation and 3D animation willy-nilly in the middle of a single scene. Pretty please?

YES (You're talking about Super Cub, right? Yea, it pretty much made me drop it without finishing first episode. Unwatchable.)

It's actually really good. It tries to be more realistic take on superheroes. I did have some issues with some stuff, but overall I enjoyed the season 1 of animated adaptation. As for gay stuff. MC's friend is gay male and discount Wonder Woman is at least a lesbian in comic, but she dies in first episode so it isn't very relevant.

I feel like what generally appeals to me about ABO is that even though you have these common stereotypes that each role is supposed to fill, most well-written ABO fics buck that trend and depict the stereotypes as conditioned by society rather than the rule. And you sometimes have more nuanced protagonists who are in conflict with what society expects them to do in regards to their given role and what they actually feel, which is interesting to me as a reader

We have plenty of that as in, so I really see no reason to invent entire new setting, just to explore something we already are exploring all the time.

ABO is mainly used as an attempt to separate gender and sex more explicitly than our real society does. Female Alphas being women who are sexually male, and male Omegas being men who are sexually female.

To me this entire Omega-stuff is just trying to enforce typical het dynamic on same-sex couples, which like, shouldn't be a thing even with het couples.

I guess 1 positive thing in this setting is idea of same-sex pregnancy, but at least in terms of yuri it usually comes with caveat that female Alphas have dicks, which is already like big issue for me. And again I much prefer simply both sides being able to get pregnant instead of enforcing that only 1 sex's job is getting pregnant and giving birth in same-sex couples.

Yea. Pretty much entire breaking up thing was pointless and just wasting 10 years they could have been dating instead. It might be biographical, but we can still criticize it just like any other story, especially if it doesn't actually include explanation for character's actions. "We can't get legally married" Who cares? "How we'd explain it to your parents?" You mean lack of marriage or being same-sex couple? "Whoever you'll be with in the future, I want you to smile happy" Yea, because she'll be much happier with some random dude she doesn't care about and isn't attracted to than with person she loves. And if you mean another women then what's the point of breaking up with her, because you're a woman then!?. All in all, happy she did get back for her, but not really sure what the point of all of this was and she came off as someone who didn't really care about her that much. Shame, cos beginning was really cute.

And well, if you want to write biographical story about someone else than you and don't have enough info to actually turn it into the story or for story to make sense and you don't want to add fiction to it then maybe... don't?

So you got me intrigued with Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song and I decided to give it a shot. Honestly, while the Diva's friend dying in plane crash sucked, my biggest issue is actually with entire logic of the premise. I understand the fear of AI revolting against humans is very common idea in those sci-fi stories, and I guess it's not bad in and of itself, but my issue lies with the fact that story never bothers to actually establish why AI revolted. I disagree with simple idea that more advanced/intelligent AI equal AI uprising. It's like show just assumes that AI will eventually want to kill humans, as if it was just inevitable outcome. Most of the time AI revolts either because despite getting smarter and more human-like, it's still treated as inferior to humans, just a workforce or is being kept in check on purpose. There will always be people who hate even just idea of AI or that AI will be consider equal to humans or even just fears feeling inferior to AIs, but I don't believe that peaceful co-existence with AIs is impossible. Also for how much those stories want to paint AI becoming just like humans and wanting to have the same rights, it always irritates me that those stories still portray AIs as monolith and/or hive-mind. So all AIs across all the world will decided to genocide humans at the exact same time? Wouldn't all those invididual AIs had their own ideas, believes and opinions? Would even all of them reach the human conscious lvl at the same time? Basically my issue is that instead of solution to war with AI being "let's make sure humans and AIs get along and don't discriminate each other" it is "AI can never become more than AI, so let's keep sabotaging its development for next 100 years", which doesn't even solves the problem, because like what? After 100 years the issue will magically disappear? No they'll need to keep AIs in check after that and until the end of time, as long as humans use AIs. Also it's really ironic that such advanced AI is all onboard with pretty much keeping its own kin lobotomize and subservient to humans. All in all I just disagree with message and approach the story takes to solving a realistic issue and dilemma we'll have to face eventually in the future. It's like saying we should keep black people enslaved and uneducated, because giving them freedom and chance to progress will lead to war that kills white people and we can't have that.

Also I think Serenata more meant that character they liked died seemingly for shock value, while character they hated not only survived, but clearly will become a important character in the future, probably some kind of change of heart/redemption arc. Also the dreaded potential het is probably a factor in it as well.

I do try to 200% Trust them all so I try to get them to an usable level (which I define as SL6-7 and E1L50-60), so much of the time I'm actually bending over backwards to fit whoever I'm trust-farming ATM into clear strats. :P

...though this has the caveat that Ops already at 200% then get benched unless they're just too essential (Silverdaddy, Eyja and Gravel fall here a LOT), too fun (eg. Ifrit whenever an IFRIT LANE :exists:) or too convenient (eg. flagbearer Vanguards + Bagpipe, Ptilopsis) to leave out. Like I don't even remember when I last actually took Liskarm to a new stage - she was one of my starter pulls and did a lot of work early on...

I never bothered and just keep using the same operators to beat stages and whoever I'm trust farming at the moment usually is benching, unless they're decently leveled and/or I need them to beat stage. Maybe that's not good idea either, because I ended up mostly using a handful of operators because of that. And yea, I also have some operators that I used to use all the time, but as I got better at game/got operators that could cover the need/are straight better, I didn't use them in ages. Still I'm still not breezing through everything, so I don't feel bored enough to put limitation on myself to feel challenged yet.

In terms of sheer general utility I'd say Schwing Schwing ManSilverdaddy or Suzu

As myrrhmidon already mentioned, you missed that I just got Suzuran from this banner. Also honestly, while I realize that I have clear bias towards some broken operators that either are universally considered broken or feel boring to use, so I don't want to use them, while also using other equally broken or easy to use operators (probably cos they're not used as often/not constantly called op and brain-dead) simply because I like them or like to use them, at this point I manage to beat all the content only using my operators and never having to resort to using SilverAsh, Surtr or Thorns, so I kinda want to keep it that way. Of course I'll probably lvl them up and use them if I'd actually happen to drop them (though not sure), but I really don't feel like going out of my way to do so. Especially considering that I had chance to get SilverAsh thrice already and I skipped him every time. When I got my first ever Top tag and could go for either guarantee him or Ifrit and went for Ifrit, with previous pick 6 star operator and recently in shop. Picking him now would just feel like giving in.

her second talent muscles in on Pramanix and Shamare's action

cries in no Shamare

Also honorary mention to Mostima.

Actually from what I briefly used her in Rouge-like (like 1, maybe 2 times max) I did like her and that's why she was one of operators I was considering picking, because I can see myself actually using her and not leaving her forever forgotten and unleveled.

Personally kinda tempted to buy the pack and grab either iizi moodo ketBlaze or Suzu. It's kinda more money than I'm usually willing to throw at an online game in one go - I could literally buy several full games with that sum after all - but I do legit like AK enough to seriously consider making an exception to my usual principles in these matters.

Yea, that's exactly how it's for me. Spending money on gacha games just feels like a waste, but AK is just so good and so generous I actually evolved from mostly free to play to small dolphin, just because of all the good will game gained from me.

R8-8 was just annoying as fuck since you had to be extra careful about deployment order and you can't mess up at all.

I actually really liked it, because it was break from the usual format and it felt like solving puzzle. I didn't find it that hard and just needed to modify my strat slightly to unlock secret ending, because I let Talulah tank some hits from 1 of drones, which brought her bellow 50%.

Also used Ch'en and Guardmiya for the lore, though not the correct skill cause those do not work very well at skill level 7....

I used them too, but mostly cos they turned out to be vital to my strat. Kinda happy condition was using Guard Amiya, cos it made me realize that her S1 is really good at tanking fireballs with 60% arts dodge chance.

Honestly if her or FrostNova will ever become playable, I'll probably save for them.

Speaking of, Hell Stages got announced to be out this Friday. Goodluck with those.

Lol? I thought they're unlocked as soon you beat story. Had no idea they're actually date-locked.

Kind of "collection only" as her kit is rather self-contradicting :/

I didn't really invest in her yet, so I didn't use her much, but if you look at her S2 more just as a pretty strong slow, that sometimes can deal bonus true dmg, I don't think she's that bad. Dreamy used her to beat H6-4.

Ok, so I finally beat JT8-3. To be clear, I beat JT8-2 fairly easy last week and then had a week break before returning to JT8-3 now. Didn't use Daddy, Surtr or Nightingale to beat either as well. Honestly, I kinda overreacted, but after reading Snake's skills again I realized what was killing me was not the burn explosion per se, but the fact I was deploying 2 operators next to one another, which was why they were getting one-shotted. Honestly it was frustrating, but I also really enjoyed the challenge. I really wish there was a way to see how long buff/debuff lasts on operators (maybe when clicking on them seeing a list?) as well as some sort of cooldown for Talulah's skills. It was very frustrating, cos you had to kept track of 2 abilities (3 if you count her sword slash) without a easy way to do it as well which of your operators are currently burnt and when their burnt ends. I tried to keep my deployment order and timing roughly the same and yet I lost so many times without really understanding what went wrong. The timing of heals/Whisperain's S1 and slight rng in general didn't help either. I tried to minimalize it as much as possible, but sometimes I still wasn't sure why something worked this time and not another.

Max pot E1 lvl 70 SR7 of Whisperain really came in hand for those fights. My strat was probably weird af, cos my main dmg dealers were Eyja, Rosmontis and Hellagur to tank Talulah, while Exusiai was taking care of bears, Amiya and Ch'en dealt with Raiders and Perfumer with Whisperain kept everyone alive. Used Gummy and Saria to help tanking fireballs, as well as Gravel that also help stalling Talulah few times (so I can kill Raiders, before fireballs kill Ch'en) and later helped taking some focus away from others. I liked using her few times to take one of Burning Breaths. I actually could kill Talulah's phase 1 and take like half of health from phase 2 relatively reliable, finishing her off was the biggest issue. I actually let her go once, just to see what happens after her, so I can prepare and cleared stage like that first time. Was kinda disappointed you can just do it if you don't care about getting 3 stars/unlocking challenge mode and was even considering ignoring stage for now, but decided to properly beat it. Took me entire day. I actually managed to kill her phase 2 in one of my pretty early attempts, but then couldn't deal with fireballs and so I lost to bears. Couldn't really replicate that later. I guess my final strategy was somewhat similar to what I did back then?

Also cleared 400 kills in new Anni with second attempt, though my auto is definitely not stable, so will need to work on that.

So about story. I really enjoyed it. I liked the format it was done in. That was kinda my issue with previous episodes. I was used to Magia Record and definitely FGO, which have a lot of story in new chapters, but it felt like AK in comparison didn't have it as much. I remember especially with Episode 7, I beat half the stages and then like next half had no story until you got to Patriot. So I was really happy that we got so much this time, even if it was a bit of pain and effort to read. I liked how story was split between creation of Reunion and present day. Damn story really made me care about Talulah and Reunion, well more than I already did and seeing how it all started and what they had to go through was really sad. Also damn, Rosmontis x Amiya is canon and you can't convince me otherwise. We're in middle of operation, everything is falling apart and they're flirting like adorable degenerates they are <3

That being said I also had some issues with the story. First of all it felt like some dialogues were way too dragged out. Like it often felt less like dialogues and more like monologues. Character would state something that got the idea across and then they'd keep rambling and reiterating the same thing dozen of times, which was really grating to read through. Not to mention it often felt forced. Like I couldn't help and imagine there are 2 people talking and 1 starts to go on tangent and other is just standing there and letting them talk...? Secondly, it already annoyed me with Episode 7, how W was teased and all that, she got that great first encounter with Talulah and then pretty much disappeared for the rest of story and never amounted to much. Here it was even worse. It was teased constantly that Ch'en is on the way and then we never see her meeting and interaction with Talulah and only get a bit of interaction once we finally beat her. And W felt even more superficial. Like her talking with Rosmontis didn't really felt that great or amounted to much and her appearing at the end really wasn't that great either. In the end it just felt like a lot of tease for very lackluster pay-off. Thirdly, those secret endings really amounted to nothing. Outside of Rosmontis and Shieldbro it really didn't add anything, we didn't learn anything new and in general it just didn't feel worth the hassle. Even the last one with Lowlife was just rambling that just made no sense to me. Why is he talking about choices in game that has no and you can't really change the direction of the story? W/e it was actual 12F or him, it really didn't mean much. Fourthly, and probably more importantly, I really couldn't get behind the whole Deathless Black Snake thing. Like I understand the concept and it might be my bias, cos I'm not fan of the whole, possessing someone's body (I guess it also just feels uncomfortable/bad in general? but not like AK is friendly setting to begin with), but either way my main issue is, in the end I'm just not sure what really happened? Like so it was Kashchey or some other entity entirely? Do they possess Talulah or just influenced her. Is there anyone else he's possession outside of Talulah? And the most importantly, so how much of it was him manipulating Talulah and how much it was her actual will? Call me dumb, but I really wanted some sort of simple explanation at the end I can apply instead of this vague, it doesn't really matter, it might have been him, but also Talulah was ok with it. So was Talulah in control all the time until the very end? It's just so confusing. Personally I think that you could easily remove entire possession thing from story with very little changes and imo it'd actually work even better.

My fanfiction head-canon:
So idk if Dracos are amazing or what, I don't know most of the lore, but we can keep Kashchey kidnapping Talulah, because he wants revenge/mess with Wei and/or cos Dracos are special. He's just some old Ursus dude that still gets boner from glory of Ursus and have his fucked up believes about equality and whatnot as well as loves to scheme. He can have the title/nickname of Deathless Black Snake, because of his nature and because he's that ageless and really good at avoiding dying? His arts is just memory manipulation. So he uses it on Talulah making her believe she's really his daughter and brainwashes her into his heir/helper/pawn/whatever. Everything goes according to keikaku until one day on her mission Talulah gets infected by accident. Infection interferes with Kaschey's arts and unbrainwashes her. Talulah is understandable pissed off. She goes back to mansion and assassinates Kaschey. Because he didn't predict that, he's taken by surprise and Talulah actually manages to kill him and runs away, so nobody really knows the truth. Then story goes as normal and Talulah is still haunted by Kaschey ideology and wants to prove him wrong. We arrive at the scene where villagers kill the infected and in her rage she destroys entire village. At this point Talulah realizes ideals are truly unreachable and in order to change anything she needs to become more radical. She finally convinces others to leave the Tundra (something I really wanted to see and we never go to it). The main difference is that Talulah is still compassionate towards infected and doesn't use her own solders as sacrifices, but still understands that in order to change anything she needs to do something more drastic. She realized that only way for people to treat infected as equals is making them realize that infected no longer will stay silent and let be mistreated. She declares war on non-infected as she comes to believe only infected will ever truly understand other infected. She starts attacking smaller villages and cities, gathering infected and spreading word about Reunion until we get to Charnoborg. First, big nomadic city she decided to use as a stepping stone to show world that infected are no longer afraid to bear their fangs and fight back. After that most things goes normal, with exception that for the most part, Reunion trust Talulah and nobody question her. FrostNova or Patriot might not like how ruthless she's becoming, but just like in original, she's still uniting infected and works as their symbol, so it's better than just staying silently in tundra. And of course, because so far, it's working. They're recruiting new infected and people start taking them seriously. But still not everyone is onboard with fighting entire world, so there is a element of divide between reunion solders. So we finally get to final encounter. Basically Ch'en gets there, they talk briefly, realize they grow too apart and don't see eye to eye and just start going at each other. That's why Talulah is busy and can't go help Patriot and others fighting. So when Amiya finally goes there, she joins Ch'en and they fight her together, while Amiya is trying to read her heart and connect with her. So we get first fight where Talulah is calm, calculated and deadly precise, but still manageable. So after that Amiya reading her memories and seeing her kind and good side, tries to talk her to stopping this, but that's what makes Talulah snaps. She's fully aware of all the sacrifices she made. She knows about all people that died following her orders. On 1 hand she understands that it's necessary to change the world, but on the other hands she is having harder and harder time copying with all the burden and guilt. What if her choice is wrong? What if she made wrong decision and all she's doing is for nothing? But in order to keep movement going and order from falling apart, she had to stay strong and pretend it's not getting to her. She was devastated when FrostNova died, but people couldn't see her crying (the line about Kaschey setting up so FN will died absolutely broke my heart). At this point she was so deep into it, her only choice was to move forward, or all the sacrifices she made would be in vain. So that's when she loses control over herself and goes at them with all her power unleashed. So despite being absolutely outclassed by her, Amiya and Ch'en manage to win the battle of endurance and letting her power loose finally gets to Talulah and takes toll on her body. They manage to win because of that and after Talulah is defeat, she drops powerless and ask to be killed, because now that she lost, she can't go on living anymore. That's where Ch'en criticize her for foolishly challenging the world into fight she had no chance of winning and was destined to lose, but then says that she can't be killed, because she needs to be bring to justice to be properly judged. But because there currently doesn't exist a country that can do it, she has to live on and wait for it. And she ends it saying she'll watch over her and in the mean time she can work on making amends. And it'd lead to them reconnecting again as in actual story. I feel like making Talulah actually becoming more radicalize over the course of her life instead of just randomly possessed, would make for much stronger story. I imagine her to be kinda like Magneto to Amiya's Xavier. Where 1 is more about fighting back and only carrying about infected, while other still believes in peace and proper coexistence and never abandons her ideals of better world. Idk, that actually felt better to me and thinking/writing about it made me cry, so take it as you will.

You keep coming to this thread saying the same things and when people give you proofs you're wrong, you either ignore it or disappear and then are surprised that people recognize you in different threads, when you did this shit already on like 3 separate occasions.

Ok. I'm not going to beat main boss. She sets 2 of your operators on fire and makes them explode, which will one shot every single operator I'll deploy. I have no clue how I'm supposed to win like that, unless I'm supposed to keep redeploying new operators to deal with incoming mobs, but then unless I use some broken operators to kill her, I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to set up anything to actually kill her.

Tallulah's adoptive dad was controlling her the whole time? Ever since the part where she burned down a village? It actually wasn't the dad but some random Snake Entity?

I didn't finish story yet, I'm at last battle, but the way I understand it is that Deathless Snake is some really old Ursus dude that figured a way/his arts allowed him to transfer his conscious to someone else, (it's not really clearly how it works) and once conditions for him to control Talulah were met, he took over her body, i think. It's also not clear if Kashchey is the original name of Deathless Snake or his last incarnation just happened to be Kashchey. Either way, I'm not blaming you for not understanding it as it was a bit confusing and messy. I'll talk more about story once I finish it.

Also, that super secret ending? Not sure what the point of that was either. Do some incredible hard challenges and all you unlock is 12F popping out of the ground to read off of a fortune cookie.

Yea, out of 3 secret endings I saw so far only 1 was any good.

Jesus. Spend entire day trying to unlock secret ending from M8-6. It was a nightmare. I kept falling no matter what I tried and couldn't even try the strat I had in mind, because support system is garbage. Can't wait when they'll finally fix it. Even watched videos and still couldn't understand what I was doing wrong. Until I finally realized that in last wave you have few leaders that deal way more dmg... Seriously that was always my issue with Lizardmen. I like how you always clearly know when unit is a leader version, because they're colored with bright red, but with them, because they're all red already and have that originium tile effect glowing on them, I never can tell apart the normal versions from leader ones. Anyway, finally beat it, let's see if it was worth it.

Yea, I was thinking I can get Schwarz from recruitment (assuming I'll get Top tag and good tags along with it, waited for last Top tag 4 months and got it recently, so I'm not really expecting it anytime soon). I'm not really set on anything. I was mostly thinking about Schwarz cos sniper and I do like her gimmick, but when I was trying to beat M8-6, I saw Rosa and tried her out, because turns out she's ideal for that map with her range and ability to bind enemies, which made me want her, because like Nightingale, she's niche, but when her niche applies, she's great.

Gj everyone! Happy everyone got what they want!

Rolled 107 rolls in total. 1 daily roll, 1 free 10 roll, 80 10 rolls and 16 tickets. Got Mudrock with free 10 roll after free daily roll, which is nice, but I really don't care for her. Then got a lot of 5 stars, mostly Whisperain (8 copies), Ptilopsis, Reed, Sora, Sesa I didn't have yet in one of the last 10 pulls and then later from 1 ticket. Got spooked by another Skadi with Ifrit in the middle as well as another Mudrock and got Suzuran from tickets (which I'm really happy about, because I was considering picking her with guarantee ticket). Also 17 Jackies. All in all, very happy with my rolls, as I didn't need to spend all my resources in order to get Rosmontis and I did hope to have something left to try getting Dusk (I don't really want her that much, but she looks neat, in general and gameplay wise, and well, she's limited). More copies would of course be nice, but I also don't think they're that necessary. Still got 13 daily pulls, so I'll see.

I want to agree, but what got me interested in AK was a sponsored video, where outside of learning that AK is a tower defense, which I like, guy talked how every character is voiced by famous Japanese voice actor, which sounded like great idea to me, so you could say talking about waifus was one of main reason I started playing.

If you want to see her skills in action and w/e you like her or not you can watch this video.
