Funny misunderstanding: in page 2, I thought the one talking was the small girl with a guy at her side.

I thought we were being shown how that guy had dumped her. That is: an amazing babe with awesome boobs walked past them, and the horny asshole decided on the spot to break up with her and go chase after that other girl!

Turned out it wasn't like that at all, haha.

The series was going towards a yuri ending when the author stopped drawing it (for health reasons or something, I never knew for sure).
There was a lot of bisexuality in the story. Nana & Hachi love each other but end up marrying their male suitors because "Well, that's what a girl gotta do, right?" But then one becomes a widow and the other divorces, and it looks like they can be together at last, KYAAA!
... and at that point the author stopped it and we never found out what was going to happen in the end. >_<

Indeed, the whole issue of marriage between parent and child is a problem only if you think about it in Westerner terms (going to a church, asking for divine blessings, all that stuff). If you think about it in Japanese terms, marriage is not different from adoption: someone who wasn't in your family register goes to the city hall with you and enters your family register — and from that day on, you're family. Thus there's no need for a family member (a child, a sibling) to marry you: you're already like that since the day you were born. Brilliant!
