Funny how people react with hate whenever a character is cheating (whatever their reason might be).

It's like they're being the ones cheated on. Talk about being insecure.

Anyway, i liked this one.

What people probably failed to notice and the teacher pointed out is that when Ami invited Rei to the amusement park, three months prior, she was already in the process of breaking things off with all the other girls she was having a relationship with. The phone call was because she had contacted a girl, probably to break up and Rei mistook it as Ami two-timing.

The final trigger was probably Rei coming at her place when she was sick and Ami realized that Rei was there for her. So she decided to turn a new leaf. Unfortunately, communication failed.

Also, Ami is dropping out of school probably because her mother can't pay for it. She's basically abandoned. But people here are like "yeah, serves her right."

Thankfully, Rei isn't as heartless as you lot.

Now, how many chapters before she goes back to Ami?
Thanks for the update!

It's always like this. And it's always so infuriating. How refreshing It would be for once, Just once, to see a cheated manga character who actually values and respects themselves and just undestands unconditional love is a myth and everybody has a limit and just cuts things off? I honestly doubt this manga will have the depth to go down that route.

ain’t the last chapter, chapter 10? so ofc there is no depth to it if the story ends >.> or maybe mangadex is wrong about the number of chapters?

Oh? Was it axed maybe?

No. It wasn't serialized at all.

It was published as a single volume from the start.

I just think Kaede is depressive and is running away from it.

Her affair with Ai was just a way for her to check if "love" alleviated her desire to end it all, but obviously it failed so Kaede resumed her journey in search of more and more intense sensations, something that might keep her interested in living.

"What kind of darkness were you gazing into" says it all.

Maybe at the end of her journey, having failed to find something worth living for, she'll actually kill herself.

Actually, for this series, they redrew a lot of SFX. Not always, but often.

Official don't redraw SFX at all. They just add a small side text.

Scanlators go beyond what official cares to do.

You make it a simpler matter than it actually is. I, as I'm sure many other people too, don't want to see SFX redrawn. They're part of the original art, not just something superimposed. It's over-localization and usually it also results in more of the page being covered up by necessity. Side text is the way to go.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Gotta love it when the slow burn finally pays off. Thank you to Kirin-kun for getting the chapters translated into English so quickly for us. Seriously, weekly uploads for 3 years while translating other series too is no joke, even if its just 4 pages.

from their MD page:

I mostly suck at redrawing complex SFX so I often leave them as is. Doing SFX is a fool's errand, I tell you.

I do enjoy reading scanlation and the official translation side by side.

All according to keikaku.

Aya was looking for a way to keep Mitsuki from leaving Japan. There it is.

I'm gonna bet, because Yuni didn't choose Fuuko, Fuuko tried to find someone else. Now Yuni will have to make a choice.

It's obviously an ex and Fuuko was obviously unwilling.

Fuuko didn't "try to find someone else".

Yes, the new character is here to test what Yuni really wants, but Fuuko isn't that fickle.

This series is one trope after another, played mostly straight. Hopefully, this new person doesn't become more obnoxious than she was here.

Since it keeps on being published, it means it works well with the Japanese public.

If it ended there, it usually means the sales for vol 1 were poor, the editor decided to cut it short, so the author rushed an ending

Blame the Japanese public, not the author.

Very fun that Sadako is confirmed as like suspiciously strong for a witch who came out of nowhere. It figures after all she's not just some newby she's just been in exile for multiple centuries. Which I imagine will be coming up sooner rather than later at this point.

edit, re-reading chapter 1 made me realize Sadako has a tv in her house. and old one admittedly maybe 1930-1940s. But also with the way things are framed that city didn't look like it existed as more than a farming town in the way back when. So she's either younger than I assumed and cities can grow fast, or she is still centuries old but up until like 80-90 years ago her mom/guardian still looked after her before presumably going out to buy some cigarettes and never returning.

She said herself that she's over 100 and has been living for the last 80 years in the mountains. So Sadako might have been born at the start of the 20th century.

Only hint we get from what happened 7 years ago is that panel on page 34 of chapter 17. Looks like Erika went to Aya after school (on Tanabata day?) and cried, probably telling her to "give her back Koto". Aya being Aya, I doubt she agreed and probably said that it was up to Koto, not to her. A distraught Erika then maybe wrote a wish for Aya to disappear.

Why that wish was magically granted is unknown, but the background theme being Tanabata, light from the stars and the summer triangle, we can infer that these 3 girls represent the 3 stars, Altair, Vega and Deneb.

The thing about these stars is that in the sky they appear close due to perspective, but are actually very far from each other.

Vega represents Orihime, Altair represents Hikoboshi. They're separated by the Milky way. But Deneb isn't part of the Tanabata story. It's an "extra". If we say that Aya and Koto are the "star-crossed lovers" does that mean that Erika isn't part of their story and is the reason for their estrangement?

Then comes Kumagaya-kun. It's hinted he got spirited away too. But he's not in any triangle that we know of, now or in the past. His place in the story isn't clear yet.

Something has to happen for the story to move forward. Erika being on the same stage, as an equal, as Aya isn't going to solve the triangle. Even if she confesses, so what? Something has to give and neither of the 3 MCs are ready to give up on their love interest. The only way at this point is a Deus Ex Machina. Time travel , magic, you name it.

You'd almost believe Erika is the MC.

This really gives me hope for dramatic climax at the end of a year.

I wouldn't expect this to be the kind of manga that ends as soon as the main couple gets together, but also I could see the author wanting to wrap this up so she can start a new manga in a not twitter format, one where she can put out 30 page chapters instead of 4. I got to imagine this medium limitation is frustrating to work with sometimes.

I think it'll be difficult in the future for Sumiko. When you have a hit behind you, expectations are high for your next work and it's all too easy to disappoint. You either try something new and it's a hit or miss, or you recycle your previous recipe and people lose interest.

It's much safer to have moderate success growing with time than being a shooting star.

Hmm... She was heading right, to the station, but then, I think she realized that Aya must feel lonely at prom. The vision of Aya in her dress is all in her head for now.

I think it's a biological girl, but maybe it's someone who doesn't identify as either? Or as both?

Also, maybe it's a hit-man, seeing all the different phones laying around.

Anyway, Houjou is in for a ride.

Quite the mysterious premise.

In the first place, Mitsuki was never really interested in, or looking for, a record deal. It's just something that dropped in her lap without warning and people around her hyped up. Especially Aya, who wants to get Mitsuki's music "out there".

She might just turn back and go to the prom instead. She doesn't really care about that party with music people.

Or she might go, find the people there insufferable and then just leave and go to the prom, just at the end, where she'll find Aya and they'll dance (let's hope).

I re-read the whole thing from the start and I can say with certainty thal all four girls in this are bitches in their own way.

  • Nanase consistently treats her girlfriend like dirt she has to hide. And then when she learns that she dared pierce the ear of another girl she starts ignoring her, before somehow learning that piercing the ear of a friend is normal. Words and acts have consequences and she's clearly been a bitch. She refuses to really acknowledge her own flaws, even when others put her nose in it. She perfunctorily apologize, but persists in her ways and treats Yuki like her real girlfriend. i can't wait for Nanase to actually physically cheat on Yuni with Yuki (she's already emotionally cheating with her). That'll be the cherry on top. I'll call her "Narcissistic Bitch #1"

  • Yuni is a needy, high-maintenance girlfriend who find herself excuses for whatever wrong she does, because she's terrified of being alone. She wants her cake and eat it too. She was frustrated by her relationship with Nanase because it wasn't rewarding at all and she felt lonely. And feeling lonely has been a constant fear and trauma for her, so she hates it. Her venting account was a call for emotional help, which got answered by Fuuko. She got more than what she wished for. Her inability to reject Fuuko, convincing herself it was for the sake of Nanase, shows that she latched onto her because of her fear of abandonment, but also because she lusted after Fuuko. She was the one who initiated sex with Fuuko as a form of "revenge" against Nanase who refused to call her girlfriend "cute", but she was just making up an excuse. She was eyeing Fuuko's curves way before that. Everyone agrees that Yuni is a shitty person, selfish and cowardly. I'll call her "Lying Bitch #2"

  • Fuuko is a highly intelligent girl who's been constantly belittled by her family. Betrayed by her parents, her brothers, the next door girl she loved. She has no friends because she doesn't trust anyone anymore. She approaches Yuni because she got hold of her secret account. In the end, what Fuuko wants is to be the one CHOSEN. She hatches a whole plan for Yuni to cheat, get caught and then break up with her girlfriend and ultimately chose her, but this plan failed a first time when Yuni came back to Nanase. I guess she wasn't expecting Nanase to "forgive" (in appearance) the cheating and for Yuni to keep on lying to herself. But in the end, stealing someone's girlfriend, while rewarding for your self-image, is still a shitty thing to do. She obviously looks down on everyone else. I'll call her the "Sociopathic Bitch #3".

  • Yuki is, in appearances, the only innocent character in this, but she's actually the source of many of Nanase's troubles with Yuni. From dragging her around in the festival, indirectly kissing with her, constantly hovering around Nanase and meddling in her life, confronting Yuni about the cheating in Osaka, thanking Nanase loudly about the accessory, at every turn Yuki has been "innocently" breaking Nanase's relationship. I think it's been a while since she's been attracted to Nanase, but didn't acknowledge it to herself. In the guise of being the "best friend", she effectively participates in ruining Nanase's love life. I'll call her "Self-righteous Bitch #4".

So in the end, no one here is good, as intended by the author. It's a clusterfuck of relationships between girls with issues. All characters are indefensible in some ways, making bad and dumb decisions.

This train wreck is both ugly and beautiful and if you can't see it, then it's not for you.
