You're taking issue with posts of people simply wondering if she's the same as them because of how similar her struggles are to theirs, and, again, acting like it's the same as those memories of people denying her being anything, mocking her for not living up to their own idea of womanhood while they pressure her into it and maliciously othering her when they bring up x-gender.
Which are all things trans people struggle with, no matter if they're binary or non-binary, and I don't see how suggesting that a character may be trans (meaning there are other people who share her troubles and she isn't as unfit to exist as she thinks she is) is the same as the setting mocking and shoving her into a box.

If we're going to act like those posts weigh the same as the characters' words, then how is "Hey you might be just like me, so you're not struggling with this alone, you're not the problem and there is something you may find comfort in." the same as "You're weird and I can't tell if you're a boy or a girl, also you should just settle for being a girl and stop with that, grow up lol, freak."?

It's fair not to want to be labeled and there is a lot to be discussed when it comes to labels themselves and how they affect how others interact with us and us with them (and I believe Urasekai Picnic is a great work for those interested in this topic), I myself do not want labels and only describe myself as non-binary in relevant contexts... but again, there's a very big difference between the people on this thread saying they relate to the character and that for that reason they may be trans nb in a way that's supposed to be freeing rather than constricting, since they struggled similarly before with the stress of not properly living up to anything, and the characters in the work itself that are not merely suggesting that she's trans, but instead actively treating her as less and like she's going through a phase for not fitting with either category of man or woman.

And really, the characters aren't just suggesting things but quietly demanding it out of her, so why would the mentions of X-gender within those thoughts be seen as positive suggestions or even comparable to the few posts in this thread about her gender? All of it is in a judgemental tone, pressuring her to pick something already, and that something being a woman. Why would the characters want her to be trans when they push her back to being a girl whenever they get the chance to? It's more like making fun of her.

Which is why I consider those to still apply to the same struggle. She's a "failure" in the middle of it. It just doesn't make much sense to me to be comparing people who are only saying "Hey, she might be the same as me! I understand her struggles." with characters that are a constant pressure in her life. And if it turns out that she wants no terms for herself or to come up with something of her own, that's fine too and cool. Until there's something more solid regarding that it's completely okay for others to say those things just like how it is to say that she may not want any labels at all. Which, by the way, I don't even disagree with, but it's unnecessary to be averse to the idea that she could turn out to be trans nb this early in the story.

Nobody was pushing anything, only suggesting that could be the case, especially when being forced to act in that gendered way and suffering deeply because of it is an experience many trans people share.
Especially with a scene like this this, come on. Those characters aren't "pushing her to be trans", they're treating her as an other for not living up to womanhood, which nobody here did when they implied to share a similar struggle with her and relate as a trans person.

"Let me fly your boat" was how Diode originally asked Terra to go fishing with her, and this line is used in marriage proposals in their people's tradition (chapter 3). Terra saying "please fly my boat" here was her basically saying yes to that.

Well, it is over... I was really hoping that it would adapt more of the story, but I guess it wasn't doing well enough to continue. I doubt it was "rushed just to finish it", because the way the story started to flow and the size of the chapters themselves changed considerably in volume 3, so this was the inevitable of working under a limit. There was no way to show all that happens in the second half of the novel in less than 30 pages per chapter. I wish we could have seen the scene where Diode gets called a chuuni by her mother...
And while I wanted to see them actually kiss, the page itself I think works really well, I like it.

I'm sorry about that, people are incredibly cruel towards trans women, so it's inevitable you'll lose some people in your life when they find out you're trans. It's not easy, it can be dangerous, and you might not be in a safe spot in your life to currently to even transition, and people do heavily discriminate transfem people in lots of contexts, but you being yourself is more important than anything, and for as long as you live, you can transition even if you need to work towards it first. It'll never be too late to be yourself.

There are people who will love you for who you are, who will respect the fact that you are a woman, who will love you as a woman loving another woman, who won't be afraid to call you their girlfriend, their sister... anything you prefer, so never settle for people who won't respect that and try to make you live as someone you are not because they put themselves above you. Not talking only about romantic partners, but friendship too.

Take all the time you need to figure things out, and if it turns out you're a girl, then go for it! Your happiness matters the most, you don't need to let pain decide things for you.

There aren't a lot compared to characters that are cis, but characters that are openly or implied to be trans do exist in japanese media and you just have to look for them, or do you think that trans people "only exist in the west"? Stupid argument, I knew there was something wrong with me as a kid before I even knew about the existence of puberty, just not what it was. People can figure it out during any stage of their lives, childhood included.
Many of us trans people know and feel that we're different but it's people like you who shut us down and force us to remain cis by making it as difficult as possible for us to transition or even consider that possibility, giving multiple excuses like we're too young to know or aren't thinking properly because we have mental issues caused and/or worsened by your kind.

People are more than allowed to headcanon characters they like as transfem, especially if they can relate to them and see their own experiences in them no matter how simple they are.

Yeah, chapter 8 is massive! From Diode moving in and slowly getting more comfortable, to visiting Terra at the archive, then finally the kidnapping attempt.

I'm currently working on chapter 11, and if you thought chapter 8 was massive, wait until you read this one...

Diode secretly doing ninja training was funny to imagine, but I'm not clear on how she was planning to hijack the ship. Was she trying to buy a digital hacking tool on the black market?

The way I interpreted is that she was going to bribe somebody in the Council with the money.

A shame that it's ending, I would have loved to see what happens after the first volume in drawn form... but at least we'll get to see more of Eda and I wonder how her personality is going to differ here, I personally find her neat. As a whole it was a very fun read and we got a third variation of the boob moment haha. Though the choice to make Terra call Diode... "Diode" instead of "Die-san" was quite interesting considering how (minor volume 4 spoilers, nothing that reveals the plot) there's this scene where Terra falls back asleep and Diode tries to wake her up a few times, then the one time she calls her just "Terra" instead of "Terra-san" it startles Terra so bad she immediately wakes up, so she decides to stick with "Terra-san" even if Terra didn't find it bad, just too much and quite sudden. Not that I'm complaining, it does fit the moment.

My guess is that the manga will end with them escaping FBB, and if the Eda scene ends up not being that long, then I guess the next really is the last... Since chapter 10 is still being worked on (its events don't happen at all in the manga) and I'm still translating chapter 11, I'll refrain from commenting too much about it, but I really wish this kind of work wasn't doomed to end sort of early. I hope that the people who have been enjoying it so far give the novel a chance too, and that it does get licensed eventually.
