Sorry, Taiyaki fans

That's right, we're onto your, uh, incestuous mother-daughter ways!

See Seiran, that's why you don't go around raising death flags

That's what I thought too after seeing the big yuri kiss there. And I will also blame the translator for jinxing it!!

By Chapter 17.2 I had these wild tinfoil hat theories. Did Fran-sensei kill Mimi's mom? Is Shiina actually a bastard child of Mimi's mom? If not, did Shiina's parents at least know Mimi's?

10 million yen for a minivan!? Better be the Porsche of minivans for that price!

Car-nerd side note: It looks to be a Lexus LX570. The LX is not actually a minivan, so I chalk it up to be a simple error on the part of either Tamamusi or the translator.

However, Lexus does make a minivan with a similar, but slightly different ugly "Predator Maw" grille called the LM. It is only sold in Japan, China, and other select Asian markets, where minivans are legitimately serious business.

In essence, is it a double standard to complain that a work has "too many" lesbians?

I think this depends on context because there's a lot of situations that can be said in. If someone were a straight person complaining about "homosexuality being shoved in their faces" then yes that's definitely a double standard and also homophobic. If it's a queer person complaining about there being too many lesbians and not enough representation of other identities, het included, then that's a different situation. This situation takes into account that said queer person also complains about all het casts for a similar reason.

The issue of whether something is a double standard depends on the intent of the person committing that act. If they won't complain about an all het cast and only complain about all lesbian or LGBT casts, then that's a very clear example of a double standard.

I don't think someone having issues with having "too many lesbians" is inherently bad because there can be good discussion about it. If, for example, the setting is an all female world where everyone is gay, then it doesn't really feel like representation. The struggles of being gay include being a minority and a setting like that would eliminate any real world connections that can be made in that aspect. Going further, someone might also feel that it objectifies lesbians without thinking about their struggles.

I don't personally believe what I gave an example of in the previous paragraph, but it's a valid viewpoint that people could have. Something to note is that I'm assuming that the person who has issues with "too many lesbians" are queer themselves when I said they're not showing a double standard. I think it's a different story if the person complaining is straight since the non-homophobic reasons behind not liking a story to have too many lesbians all have to do with different views on queer representation. Straight people don't exactly get to have a say on whether representation is good or bad on an identity they have no part of.

As my closing statement, I'd also like to note that someone being queer doesn't make them exempt from having double standards. If they don't complain about all het casts or all gay men casts but only complain about all lesbian casts, then that's also a double standard. Basically if the only thing they have a problem with are lesbians and noone else, then they have double standards and probably need to address their lesbophobia.

Thank you for your reply.

I was thinking about this because for a while I've had fantasies in my head of writing original yuri fiction, and I'm constantly wrestling with the question of how many lesbians to put in it.

Another reason is that I fairly vividly remember having this discussion in the Bloom Into You thread. I expressed disappointment that Akari was not a lesbian as well and got hit with the "not everyone in the story should be a lesbian, that's unrealistic" reply.

I've been thinking about the old question "how many lesbians do you put into a yuri work?" For bitter yuri fans with PTSD, having any male be a major character can be seen as a threat of interference or derailment. But for others, a Cast Full of Lesbians where the entire cast, or even the entire world is female cheapens the value of being a lesbian, as there is no alternative choice. I read an interesting discussion point regarding the Cast Full of Lesbians trope from TVTropes, asking "Isn't it kind of weird how we consider shows with an all, mostly, or even just above average LGBT cast noteworthy and even unrealistic, but shows with literally nothing but heterosexual cisgender characters in a cast of thousands get a pat on the head without having to constantly justify their own existence?"

In essence, is it a double standard to complain that a work has "too many" lesbians?

Kaede x Yuzu!! It's been 3,000 years...

Also TIL AC = Air Comiket. I saw the acronym in a few doujins over at e(x)hentai and didn't know what it stood for

So I ignored this manga for the longest time because I saw "mute" and I didn't really want to read any disabilty/drama/angst. I've already watched and read Koe no Katachi, and while I thought it was quite good, I didn't exactly want to do it all over again. I was finally swayed when someone posted some pages of it on a Discord server I'm in so I became interested.

Now I'm way late to this conversation but I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents regarding using your phone to text/LINE/etc. While this was for absent for most of Koe no Katachi, for years now many series like Yuru Camp does this extremely frequently even though none of the characters are disabled, to the point where it makes me think "damn kids these days always glued to their phones and not talking face-to-face enough!" (even though I do exactly that myself, even before the pandemic, so I'm not THAT old)

Others have raised the points that "the notebook is cuter" and "being able to communicate through their phones would minimize the use/impact/drama of the mind-reading powers/muteness", which I think are all plausible. I'd also suggest maybe the author didn't grow up on texting/LINE/emails and just isn't hip with the times, so to speak. Most writers can only write what they know.

Does those bullies have X-ray eyes?

Actually, I thought there was plenty in Pandacorya's art on just that first page that immediately rendered the character as looking "different".

Oda's posture and the hang of her clothes, also the way the panels were directed, there were details that made the character design seem opposite of typical manga. (It almost looked like that slight off-feeling look you get from flipped manga to me; I wonder if the artist drew the panels in the layout and then reversed some of the art?)

It's hard for me to see what rang up to me as different again going back to it a second time (which itself is a bit of a poetic reaction), but I felt the art was intentionally askew even before I read the first panel. Anybody else feel that?

In another one-shot by Pandacorya, "I Went to a Lesbian Brothel and My Teacher Was There", the main character had her hair parted the other way compared to the one here. Same slightly grim expression on the first page too.

Seeing Clownpiece will always give me a giggle remembering the SNL sketch commercial for Dillon Harper Investments (at www.clownpenis.fart). Link does not actually work.

You mean Dillon/Edwards Investments. Dillon Harper is a porn star.

But man that would've made the whole thing even funnier.

Here's the link to the video. https://dula.tv/videos/clown-penis-dot-fart/

Come for the loli yuri, stay for the... adult, short-haired, slightly tomboyish senpai, Yuu. Now that's my type.

So I discovered this on a hot tip from either reddit's yurimemes subreddit or goodanimemes.

And it might be the most pedo yuri manga I've ever read.

But also one of the funniest. Following!

(Oh and in that double date chapter they looked almost like a yuri family!)

Kurogane Kenn chef's kiss

I can't help but think that smashing in the ocean it's kinda disgusting.

Better than in public washrooms tbh.

Now that I think about it, it's not by much.

Petition for a spin-off series of the short haired girl. She deserves some loving as well!

Of course im Happy for Them, But im gonna keep saying this until she gets thrown a bone: poor Aoi

I think Blastaar christened this term a few years ago with Sayaka from YagaKimi: Aoi is a TOMOLO type: The Other, More Overtly Lesbian One.

I will say I like Aoi too and want her to find happiness as well.

i swear if these two do the sexy time before yuzu and mei

i will slowly cry

I think this series will take it slow. But of course, there's a high chance Yuzu and Mei never ever have sex so even taking it slow will be faster.

imagine sasakoi having sexy time and real incest before citrus that´d be really funny

Who's going to serve the real incest in SasaKoi though? Yori and Himari are not related and this doesn't seem like the kind of series to pull some dramatic reveal that they are.

When I browsed through the raws some time back, I figured this wouldn’t be the highest quality manga that ever existed. But sheesh, now that it’s being translated, the setup to this story is worse than I thought. Hope folks enjoy rapey-seme kohai with weak-willed uke senpai type scenarios.

Either way, kudos to the translator getting it started.

My thoughts exactly. This is so mind-meltingly dumb I was almost better off just skimming the raws again.

After re-reading the latest translated chapter, this whole thing reminds me of Tadokoro-san, except the hard-boiled mangaka stuff was removed and replaced with at least one sex scene per chapter. Yu is Tadokoro but more generic, Shizuku is Nikaidou but also more generic and less of a cartoonish superhero. Kyou is the Kirigaya of this manga: love rival, bullies the MC a bit, eventually gets stopped and rejected by MC's girlfriend and the one she loved. She even has the same tag-along-type girlfriend to "pair up" with.

Japanese girls are so fragile.

Unless they are idiots, those ones don't catch colds. And are typically made of iron.

when a piece of art is more interesting with more development than the series and it's sequel >.>

I was just going to swoop in here and say we're not going to get this development in a thousand years.

And even then it could just be because Citrus +Ω-537 got axed and Saburouta-in-a-jar had to rush a timeskip ending.

How the fuck is this Lolicon

Usagigari looks a little "small". There was also the flashback to loli Kottoi.

Not sure what Dynasty's rules are on how many pages something has to appear on to get tagged. I remember they have tags like "dicks on page 24" and I think this is a bit of a can of worms. E-hentai/exhentai call it the "presence rule". https://ehwiki.org/wiki/Talk:Gallery_Tagging#Presence_Notes

Over there, they have a generic rule of 25%, but some tags like lolicon will apply if there is even one picture in there at all. A single loli picture in a 1,000-picture image set is enough to get the whole image set the lolicon tag. Which is sort of annoying for those actively looking for it because they'd have to dig through 999 pictures of what they're not looking for, but for shit like guro or scat (or on Dynasty, the aforementioned "dicks on page 24"), one page is enough to make most people regret looking at it at all so the whole 1-image override is justifiable.

The content is NicoMaki but the title is the name of a Rin solo song! I feel conflicted.

"no text"

I see, a well-motivated lie

I was like "yeah, there's text on the cover and the first page, big lies!" then I got into the main body and I was like "yeah yeah, the main body is the only part that really counts for tagging"

Then I got to the end and I was like "aww, that's cute, but still, lies!"

I think Nico normally has things done to her because she's the smallest and the youngest looking, and because "tsunderes" are too insecure to admit their feelings and risk rejection.

Sekihara begs to differ.
