Everyone’s out here dunking on Ayano and Miyoshi again but I just can’t get over how much of a disaster Ai is when Chie flirts with her. Someone help this poor girl xD

Aya’s been tricked, backstabbed, and quite possibly… bamboozled

Idk no matter what y’all say I still love this manga. Seeing my favorite cast of characters in all of yuri doing anything in any capacity always brings a smile to my face~

I would just like to remind anyone who’s wondering why Mei acts so disinterested in sex that she was in a sexually abusive engagement with Amemiya for who knows how long and subsequently took that abuse out on the person she now loves. She probably still doesn’t associate sex with… good things.

Or that could just be my copium headcanon lol

I understand not making any more art due to lost interest but why erase it entirely? Plenty of people still loved those artworks, seems like a weird decision…

While I did enjoy this finale, I think it could’ve been a little better written on Kana’s part. I guess you could argue their initial “homophobia” wasn’t that but more an aversion to PDA since that’s kinda taboo in Japan already.

But since that’s kinda what we were running with for awhile, I think it would’ve been a lot more powerful if Saburouta took a page from FukaBoku and had Kana say something along the lines of…

“I don’t really understand that kinda stuff yet, but if you’re happy I can keep an open mind! Who you love won’t undo all the years we’ve been friends, Yuzu.”

I hope I don't go back to kana and manami, what boring characters.

Manami? I can kinda understand, she’s basically just Harumin 2.0.

Kana? She had a helluva lot going for her these past few chapters. Unless you’ve got a terminal illness and the only treatment is seeing Harumin and Matsuri tongue-fuck each other, I don’t see how you can call Kana objectively boring.

I often question why, as a fan of this series, I keep coming back to the cesspool that is this comment section…

Is anyone else like about to drop this series cause it feels like saburouta doesn’t even care anymore we get like 4 chapters a year at this point and leave plotlines unfinished to progress with characters we literally don’t care about like where is the story even going at this point

Citrus+ was originally advertised as a slice-of-life spinoff exploring the cast’s everyday lives, especially the individual side characters. There isn’t meant to be a story like the original, although it could be argued that an overarching plot/theme that’s emerged in recent arcs is where everyone plans to go after graduation (sans Matsuri and Nene obviously).

Also, Saburouta just spent the last few months preparing a huge artbook in celebration of Citrus’ 10th anniversary. I’d hardly call her lazy or uncaring.

It’s impressive that in just one chapter I’ve gone from feeling indifferent to hateful toward Kana, for not being a part of the main cast and for being passively homophobic to Yuzu back in OG Citrus, to seeing her as very well-written, dare I say 3-dimensional.

I’m sure there’s some cultural stuff going over my head with the whole career choice thing, but I am aware of how hustle-and-bustle Japan is when it comes to work, especially those who are corporate drones. Kana’s attitude and feelings here are very understandable in that sense, but at the same time it’s caused her to feel like any suggestion to help her along, even from her best friend, is an attack on her and she gets defensive and aggressive as a result.

Obviously this spike in frustration is probably recent due to reuniting with Yuzu and learning that someone she used to believe was such a free-spirited go-getter suddenly has her life all figured out (as we saw in previous chapters). This chapter takes it a step further by calling into question whether it’s resentment for contradicting her ideals, jealousy over having something she wants but can’t figure out, or both.

Hats off to you, Saburouta-sensei. I’m actually interested in seeing where you take these characters now.

Before anyone else points it out, Torajiro actually acknowledged his own error with Shizuka’s bandages on Twitter lol

While there has been a lot of flirting going on between them, they still barely know each other beyond their similar music tastes, so starting out as friends makes sense rather than jumping into a relationship.

Besides, with all the blushing and classic yuri tropes that have played out so far, plus knowing Mitsuki’s uncle approves, I seriously doubt this will end in the friendzone.

As an avid defender of Citrus+, and someone who still enjoys the earlier chapters (like Mei declaring her love for Yuzu to the school board, or her fussing over losing the ring), I gotta concur with y’all that these last few arcs have been a slog. It honestly feels like Saburouta doesn’t know what to do with the story anymore, which is a shame considering I’m constantly seeing fanfics infinitely more interesting than each new monthly (sometimes) update.

I’ve spent the past several years (man this manga is a trooper) defending Mei and her reluctance to be open with her emotions many times in the past, insisting she’s a very damaged girl who needs time to get more comfortable in her love life.

But….

I’m starting to agree with the majority here. It’s getting old. Mei needs to lighten up and let down her walls already. Or rather, Saburouta needs to step up her game. Realistically, there’s nothing holding characters back from growing except the author.

I feel like the slow pacing here wouldn’t be nearly as much of a problem if the wait between chapters wasn’t so big and the chapter length didn’t vary from long to unfairly short.

I certainly did not expect that almost two dozen chapters into the second series that they would still be communicating through Mr. Bearzy-Wearzy,

Say what you will but I still find myself doki-dokiing whenever Mei cuddles Kumagoro xD

Sure, the little guy has been part of the Mei-Yuzu journey almost from the beginning. But by this time he could be more like their mutual adopted mascot rather than still serving as Mei's emotional security blanket.

I mean, he's literally right in the way when Yuzu goes in for her birthday cuddle--hey furry dude, Yuzu wants a shot at that lap!

The Citrus fandom has developed a bit of a theory that Kumagoro is indeed sentient and Yuzu’s “final love rival” to Mei. Hence why he has been getting in Yuzu’s way of Mei cuddles.

I can imagine a different Citrus + that began with Mei instituting a modified version of her present “start over again from scratch” protocol that involved, say, the two of them actually holding hands as they walked home that first day Mei rejoined the family, and then a series of chapters (interspersed with some focus on the other characters, to be sure) that depicted them coming to terms with what had happened and how they would be with each other going forward.

Aight, I like how the series is going now (in spite of its flaws), but I can’t deny that’s sounds a lot better. I think the closest we’ve gotten to that is Mei “losing” her ring and fearing Yuzu would be upset at her for it.

I certainly did not expect that almost two dozen chapters into the second series that they would still be communicating through Mr. Bearzy-Wearzy,

and that the maturing of their relationship would be indicated by the fact that Yuzu could be very understanding when Mei basically ignored her on her birthday in order to do school paperwork.

Yeahhh… that’s where I have to agree. I was in denial for a week or so after that chapter came out because I didn’t want to admit that I was disappointed with it. Now, not even Housewife Yuzu can absolve that chapter of robbing us of a wholesome birthday celebration.
