It's hilarious that people think I "dislike" the Mei character--I just want the vibrant, volatile Mei from the early volumes back. Sure, she was always emotionally repressed, but at first it was like a lid on a smoldering volcano.

Now she just seems lobotomized (or, as you say, malfunctioning.)

Good lord. This whole time I had never made the connection with Sasameki Koto, despite having been amazingly fond of it back in the day. Realizing it's that mangaka feels weird.
I must say, rather clever of Ikeda Takashi to write something that neatly sidesteps her main weakness as a writer. That is, Sasameki Koto was fundamentally a manga with standard romance plot arcs, except she tended to kind of lose control and have them meander off into nothing much going on while people got impatient waiting for her to pick up the threads again. With "The Two of Them Are Pretty Much Like This" she has a total slice-of-life where the main pair are already an established couple with no major conflicts, so she doesn't have to try to maintain control of any plot arcs--there aren't any. She can concentrate on characters, art, and great little "bits".

Was there a specific time where the art style kinda changed or was it just pretty gradual

I know its really really stupid to complain about this in a manga where women have sex and another masturbates to them, but all the panty shots at the beginning were weirdly distracting? I wonder why I notice that so much.

I'd say yeah it is one of the best mangas out there

What I love about it is that it lets these characters just exist they're not walking billboards or scolds for any particular issue they are just being who they are.

You know this series is a lot similar to Shimanami Tasogare now that I think about it

I still think that people are giving Kase a bit of a hard time, like she's just a young girl in love and I imagine that the whole distance thing would make her unnecessarily anxious and jealous. This being her first love makes this even more understandable. Is it the most healthy way to act?
No, but I can understand it.

I would say that it's always a bit funny that both Kase and Yamada are hyper aware of each other but not of themselves.
Yamada isn't really aware of her own attractiveness and that people might be interested in her
and Kase isn't aware of the whole Kase cult that has formed around her.
