I just tell myself the Tamamo (same with Nero or other Extra servants) in this game is not the same Tamamo that loves Zabiko . I mean we have many versions of Rin and Sakura so...
The series is fantastic. It's really sad, but also extremely hopeful and has a lot of happy moments, while the emotional moments hit different. Everyone knows episode 10 is a masterpiece, but 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 11 are all fantastic in their own right. Certainly not gratuitous tragedy either. There's a lot of tragedy, but all of it pushes a narrative and is mixed with a lot of lighter episodes.
It's my 3rd favorite anime of all time. Beautiful art, likable complex characters, very emotional, and great, very human stories. It's pretty slow burn, so if you don't like slower paced shows, it might not be your style but is otherwise fantastic.
^See, this is where the lore gets important. At the end of Extra, Tamamo specifically said because she was an aspect of Amaterasu, she will be able to remember Hakuno through all timelines and will wait until the very end of the universe being recreated if that's what it takes to meet her again. For all intents and purposes Tamamo is one of the only Servants who keeps her memory of each summoning.
Initially FGO even acknowledged that fact, by Tamamo insinuating that she already has someone she loves and wants to return to, while Nero does not, because she loses her memory after each summoning like a proper Servant copy. But because fanservice and fanart, Tamamo slowly just turns into another generic waifu bait character who must flirt with Gudako all the time. I could even see the flirting just being a natural part of her persona, but they always gotta push it too far... sigh
@Fluffycow Thank you, and you too! I have so many people that misinterpreted the series itself and i’m glad at least some people understand. Of course the series itself don’t have Yuri in it, but overall it’s a beautiful story.
