Is there a reason why Sagamani and Saganami have different Author entries? It seems like they are the same person to my admittedly uninformed self.
That said, this was one of my first Yuri series and I still come back to it every few months. I really like this author/ these authors.

I seem to recall a couple of doujins by other authors that seem to reference the events in this story, although I honestly can't recall which ones right off. I wonder how popular this story was in the Japanese doujin scene?

Then this

Awesome read.

Well, those are all by the same author so it makes sense. I was thinking more stuff like this:

http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/at_the_end_of_the_year#21

And there's at least one other that I can't seem to find at the moment that has a similar reference.

Edit: This one's a more light hearted follow-up by Sagamani:

All of Sagami's stuff is connected / tells the story (not uploaded in order tho), I've read em all on my on-going Nanoha x Fate reading frenzy. Pretty good stuff.

Nanoha's accident is canon, mentioned in the StrikerS series and comics. It's given in canon that this is because she was exceeding her limits, that she was with Vita at the time who blames herself for what happened, that she was struck down by one of those at the time unidentified gadgets, that she couldn't walk or fly for a while afterwards (and they didn't know if she'd ever be able to again), and that she was pretending to stay strong for those around her. This doujin is only filling in blanks while sticking to everything we know from the canon.

I don't think Fate exceeding her limits is ever mentioned, but considering how she and Nanoha are connected I don't think it's a stretch to say they both just had the same idea of extending the overworking part to Fate instead of just Nanoha. So it's very likely they're only referencing the same thing from the series, unless there's something very specifically pointing to something that was added in this doujin.

I realize this reply is five years late, but since it hadn't been pointed out here yet, I figured I should do that anyway.

It's darkly amusing that in this story with so much tragedy, there's some throwaway bonus tragedy in the first chapter. That guy in the first chapter who is asked about his younger sister? That's (almost certainly) meant to be Tiida Lanster, Teana's older brother, who has been KIA by the time StrikerS starts.

As for Fate being overworked (or overworking herself), it not much of a stretch; it was stated that Nanoha's injuries put her into quite the tailspin, and that she failed the mentioned Enforcer's exam twice over. Given the high-profile nature of Nanoha's case, and what we see from procedures in StrikerS and Vivid, it looks like the Bureau drastically overhauled their policies towards training, even if they obviously didn't decide to stop using what were effectively child soldiers.
