Transition. That feeling of being stuck. A hint of hope that leaves you delirious because there just might be a way to be happy. Idle, transitory moments that show you what could be, that you're not alone, that you're a rebel. I wouldn't have understood this if I read it ten years ago. But right now I get it.

A short and sweet story about two high school girls professing their love for one another, one of whom is transgender.
A hidden gem on this website, and quite a progressive work from this author who was ahead of her time, this being from a collection of stories published all the way back in 1996, she will be greatly missed.
And to respond to the person above me I think what they mean is in a way they're breaking all the conventional rules by being with each other as not only they're both girls, but also because one of them is trans.

Kiriko Nananan passed away on December 25, 2024. Her death, per requests of her family and her own, was announced a year later.

I think there should be like a memorial page or something dedicated to authors who have passed away, the only other one I've heard of is Ssamba
