@juanelric In case you want to add something and nobody posted after you yet, I'd politely ask you to edit your comment instead. If you're afraid people will miss edit, you can delete your previous post and repost it with bonus stuff. I often do that when I make some important edit I don't want people to miss and my post is still last in thread. Wha? That's news to me. If a new idea occurs to me after making my initial comment and the new idea is sufficiently separate from the idea(s) in my initial comment, then I'll post the new idea in a new and separate comment.

I've personally never regarded the posting of separate contiguous comments by the same author as a negative thing. In my head, the comment differentiation is like the author taking a huge breathe and switching trains of thought. Then again, I don't pay much attention to the topology of threads for aesthetic evaluation anyway.

I guess I can understand the cluttering dimension, though. If a thread contains 50 comments and 25 comments are contiguous posts from a single author, then readers are less likely to consume the surrounding comments, especially if the contiguous 25 occur first.

Well that is usually seen as spamming. When you're on chat or something, nobody cares, but on forum you have time to actually think things through. So when people post few comments in a row, especially short ones, that they could simply pile all into 1 comment, it can be seen as a bit annoying. Like when you reply to few comments, one at the time instead of just posting all replies together. To me it is just like basic forum good manners. And yes, the main point of it is that it artificially increase the post count.

I can understand situation where you post something and then like 1-2 hours later you want to post some new idea and nobody posted after you yet. In that case making new comment is fine, but you could still try to be mindful of it and as I gave example, repost your previous post with new information. Basically I'm a dinosaur who uses forums for half of my life so some things are just like common knowledge to me and I expect people to follow those unspoken rules.

I'm kind of a dinosaur when it comes to forums too, I just have a hard time seeing Dynasty's image comments as a forum. lol
But I've been banned from at least two forums when I was a immature dork, andi I don't want this to be the third one, so I'll behave.
