Posting few comments in a row clutters both image thread as well as image page, and in general is just seen negatively.
Wha? That's news to me. If a new idea occurs to me after making my initial comment and the new idea is sufficiently separate from the idea(s) in my initial comment, then I'll post the new idea in a new and separate comment.
I've personally never regarded the posting of separate contiguous comments by the same author as a negative thing. In my head, the comment differentiation is like the author taking a huge breathe and switching trains of thought. Then again, I don't pay much attention to the topology of threads for aesthetic evaluation anyway.
I guess I can understand the cluttering dimension, though. If a thread contains 50 comments and 25 comments are contiguous posts from a single author, then readers are less likely to consume the surrounding comments, especially if the contiguous 25 occur first.
