Octave is one of the few drama mangas that I consider good and realistic, although I would've liked a better wrap-up for an ending. But It is way better than every other drama around here.

Agreed about the ending. I would have liked to see another chapter or two, especially seeing her introducing Setsuko as her girlfriend to her family. Also agreed about it being one of the better dramas here. (Do you know of any others?)

(You've probably read everything I have)

Stuff that I read for the drama/story:

Dandelion Among Lilies (don't know the general opinion about this one, but I think it's one of the good ones)
http://dynasty-scans.com/series/dandelion_among_lilies

Cross Heart (I have no idea of how I found this, but this was one of the first yuri mangas I read, quite fond of it)
http://dynasty-scans.com/series/cross_heart

MariAli (Crying was a bit over the top, that aside I really like it.)
http://dynasty-scans.com/series/mariali

Sagami's Nanoha x Fate set of mangas (all connected stories, not all full-on drama tho)
http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/hito_ni_yasashiku
then
http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/sekai_wa_kagayaku#7
Then
http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/walking_tour#1
then Santa Sangre (Some drama again here)
http://dynasty-scans.com/series/santa_sangre
then I think everything else starting with Shoujo wa sore wo gaman dekinai and so on (no more drama ahead)

ya know, I just did not like Notes from the Garden of Lillies. Somewhere after chpt 3, the shift in the story really turned my off. I guess it's just me based on all the rave reviews I'm reading.

I guess everyone is limiting their reading list to yuri-themed stories? if not, I've been re-reading Koe no Katachi and renai idenshi xx.

What didn't you like about it exactly??

Ah, well I opened up the thread with the intention of talking about stories that you've read which have already been completed and not on going. Be they a series, anthologies, oneshots, etc. Since it's Dynasty, the majority are most likely going to be yuri oriented stories. I don't see a problem with discussing other stories that were completed that are not hosted here which aren't Yuri. If that's the case then I've been working my way through Angel Densetsu. Probably one of my all-time favorites and one I ritually reread every year.

ya know, I forgot the main reason, so I stayed up last night to reread the whole thing. first off, I missed a bunch of the omake/side stories which after rereading were nice. next, sometimes a story can just "rub" you the wrong way and this particular story did. don't get me wrong, once I reread everything in context, I must confess, it's not a bad story. however, by chapter three I kept injecting my personality into the plot. for example, every time Fujiwara-san would say something smart-assed, I wanted Kurashiki to respond with something equally smart-assed like "die a horrible death," or "I cannot stand you. go away." this in my opinion would have made a more compelling reason for Fujiwara to continue picking on Kurashiki. third of all, I get seriously irritated with wussy protagonist. in this case, that is the character's trait. finally, the ending was ... OK. I think something was missing. again, this is just my opinion and by the end, my disposition to the story was jaded. I will say this, I did like that we get to see them after high school. it was a nice wrap up.

would I add this series to my favorites? probably not unless I constantly found myself rereading it. so far that has not been the case. I know I'm in the minority here, but sometimes, you just don't like something. and this was that something.

third of all, I get seriously irritated with wussy protagonist.

This.
Exactly why I dropped Flag Time, the protagonist is IRRITATING. (I also got bored of constant cliff hangers, after 3 chapters of cliffhanging it gets really dull -_-)

Completely valid reason to dislike something. If you are not enjoying the read why would you keep reading? [Logic]

...

Anyways, been finding myself re-reading NSFW stuff lately... To list a few:

I Fell in Love For the First Time by Asagi Ryuu
(Don't like the art style itself but I do acknowledge it as amazing, actually one of the best artists around here.)

Sweet Little Devil by Nanzaki Iku

Urutsu Sahari's stuff (dodgy art at some points, but quite charming, I like the eyes...)

Sakasana's stuff

EilaNyax by nwonyo pasun

huwacocochi by Shiratama (Really like the straightforwardness in this one even with all the shyness)
(Art looks like a combination of Rokuroichi and Orico's style)

I have an issue with seeing things through to completion. if I start something, I'm compelled to finish it. I've read plenty of crap that has wasted my time. unless a series has been forcibly stopped or I cannot stomach it any further, I will keep reading for better or for worse.

HAHAHAHAAAAAA! yeah, Chrome is a weird beast. kinda pisses me off the way their word completion and spell checking works. oh well, always a good excuse to learn Swahili.

Everything by Takemiya Jin. Hope we get some more Fragments of Love soon.

Are there any doujins worth checking out even if I'm not familiar with whatever anime/game/thing they were based on? I normally don't read them but is there anything really great I'm missing out on?

I used to only read originals... now my favorites are mostly [something] doujins. NONE of my top favorite mangakas do original works.

So... yea... I really think you are missing out on A LOT.

I got a lot, so I'll try not to link many, some great mangakas:

http://dynasty-scans.com/authors/mekimeki_oukoku

http://dynasty-scans.com/authors/cloud_palette

http://dynasty-scans.com/authors/chihagura

I go for mostly fun stuff...

For some drama:

MariAli (Crying was a bit over the top, that aside I really like it.)
http://dynasty-scans.com/series/mariali

Sagami's Nanoha x Fate set of mangas (all connected stories, not all full-on drama tho)

EDIT: Got lots of goodies (mostly sweet stuff) on my lists, just don't wanna flood this thread more than I have so far.

I've read every yuri tag upload here, filtering out tragedy love triangle and alike (I finished like last week). I've had way too much free time. Nowadays I mostly re-read... and I feel the boredom of having too much free time...

If it is not in my list its probably because I forgot or it was something I don't really think I'd ever want to read again.

Lol I just noticed that I have this same problem myself recently! Now I take the time to carefully select which mangas I want to read because if it's hella long, it's an no go.

And thanks to Flips mega lists I just marathoned Earth Girls. That was a very fun read! Thanks for that little gem Flips.

O.RI

makes mostly straight up porn, rarely any love there :(

Nanzaki Iku

Love her stuff except for the love triangle stuff, not nice :( ...
Sweet Little Devil is pretty much a classic, an all time favorite.

Rokuroichi
http://dynasty-scans.com/authors/rokuroichi
Pretty good stuff all around, probably the best at drawing long hair, haha.
Kuchibiru ni Suketa Orange is my favorite, it is a bit long and angsty but it kinda goes by fast, pretty good stuff tho. (Wasn't on my list, one of those I read and forgot to add, added.)

OK, here is one more NSFW author that I've been rereading/trying to read more of (kinda wish more stories were on the reader).

Oh wow, I remember Sexhibition being released in English way back. As I recall, one of the better of the translated hentai stuff. I don't see a whole lot of yuri around by them, sadly.

Hana no Iro was way more engaging than it needed to be for a manga that's mostly about girls who have sex with other girls. Haven't read anything else by this author, though. Anyone got recommendations?

Indeed, what got me is that it actually had couples doing it, not just 2 random students who felt horny and wanted to record it.
(Kinda didn't like the threesome last (extra?) chapter.

here is a more complete list from Baka Updates:

I'm rereading Orunito 2 (IMO, better than #1)
TAG (story kinda bothered me and ending was squirrelly IMHO. also, some may not like cuz of the futa)
Kumo no Michi (IIRC, it was pretty good. prolly should reread next)

Wow Flips! Thanks for the suggestions and those are some crazy lists you have!!

@ Ciega - I completely understand how you feel about Notes from the Garden of Lillies. I kinda feel that way about Girl Friends. It's not in any of my 2 lists at all and while it is a good story, I have the same issues that you have more or less with Notes.

Now for something completely different!

I just finished marathoning Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie (Little House with an Orange Roof). It was SSUUUUUCH a good read! And definitely one of the best het romances I've come across in a long while (especially since it was a non-school oriented story!! tears of joy people... tears of f****g joy*). There was definitely a lot of warm fuzzy feelings in this and a few moments where I literally wanted to crack some skulls. Thankfully the male MC wasn't a douche/ass**** for once despite a few moments of worry. But in a way it was refreshingly realistic in a lot of ways. Highly recommended.

I'm not surprised everyone is mentioning Prism. I keep re-reading it as well. I also re-read Sasameki koto from scratch because I stopped it back when we had no translated chapters after 46 or so, and only had one sloppily translated ending chapter.

There's also a whole pile of one-shots and Honey Crush. Honey Crush is too good.

thanks a lot, now i know what to re-read this afternoon at work,
i remember really few about Honey crush, it will be a good reading

I keep meaning to get around to doing a full re-read of Sasameki Koto, but I never seem to get to it. Probably because it's so big.

Although since a few people have been re-reading non-yuri stuff, I've started a re-read of Dengeki Daisy, one of the few het romances I can actually enjoy (Katsu is another, which I really need another go at soon). It helps that aside from being a really non-standard romance, it's also pretty action-packed, kicks over a lot of tropes along the way and is often fall-down funny. It's also that rarest of rare things, a het age gap that doesn't come off as 1000% creepy.

I read that one and it felt sorta random drama spikes throughout, idk, but I do have to say that ending with tons of extra bits was satisfying... Wish more mangas did that instead of ending abruptly the very moment after the main couple gets together, where I usually feel like the trip was not worth the hastle.

Agreed. And the extras were superbly done and tied up a lot of the character's and their lives.

And it's frustrating when the main love interests ALWAYS get together in the last F*****G chapter!!! Seriously, the most important part in any relationship imho, is what happens after they become an official couple and start spending legitimate quality time together. (And I would just LOVE to see them as adults and not high schoolers for once XD .)

It's mostly due to japan's obsession over school girls... :S

Kinda why I like doujins more, Nanoha stuff where they are living together as adults, Touhou Project stuff (may have a school around there but it rarely deals with it), VOCALOID stuff as well.

But when it comes to original stuff it is usually about school girls. Some that aren't:

http://dynasty-scans.com/series/wife_and_wife (The flirtyest manga on this site, also has one of the most satisfying endings possible)

http://dynasty-scans.com/series/chatting_at_the_amber_teahouse

http://dynasty-scans.com/series/cirque_arachne

http://dynasty-scans.com/series/roommates (This one has a satisfying extra bits hehe, but it is so short)

http://dynasty-scans.com/anthologies/spring_summer_fall_winter (Side story with a teacher and the school nurse)

Was going to link so many more... Haha.
Still, the ratio of non-school girls : school girls setting is pretty crazy
(when not taking into account the massive amount of touhou doujins)
