Actually, the French sub refer to admiral as female "elle". They make sure to make the show as yuri as possible. Last time I checked about the translation group however, they are not that fan of yuri genre. However, KanColle might be an exception as the French sub has lot more of subtext that the English translation has attempted to hide/tone down.
