So there are a couple of other shows I forgot about (and a new one I just discovered).

The first is Crownies an Australian legal drama. It's amazing. And the head lawyer (and main protagonist) is female and married to another lady. There's also some subtext going on with her and her associate (also female).

It's sequel, Janet King, solely focuses on Janet (the main protagonist from Crownies) and focuses much more on her personal life. The subtext from the original also comes to fruition. A love triangle ensues between the three ladies. It didn't end with who I was shipping her with though. T_T in my mind, she left her wife dammit

And finally, Murder in the First. This one surprised me. The latest two episodes have the female prosecutor in some sort of serious relationship with another lady.

^Thanks!
I've been slacking a bit with the updates, but I'm off work tomorrow so I'll totally get to it then. I swear!

I'm watching The L Word right now. I think someone here said you either hate it for how unrealistic it is or you love it for the same reason. So I was a little scared going into the show because I'm always assuming the worst but it's actually really fun to watch.

I tried watching it, but I seriously couldn't get into any of the characters from the start and couldn't bring myself to care about their lives. Not sure if that's a realism issue or just a lack of anyone I found sympathetic in the first couple of episodes.

I'd love to see something like that but less "beautiful people living in luxury" and more "Queer as Folk with a female cast".

Haha. Love that show. Also bad ending...or maybe just weird?

Shaw x Root 4 evur.

Yes. I can't recommend Person of Interest enough, and I'm going to ramble about it for a second if you don't mind.

The f/f romance isn't even the best thing about it (the characters first meet in late season 2, and the relationship development is slow, subtle and mostly subtext... like all the romance on this show). It's part crime procedural, part sci-fi/cyberpunk, with the sci-fi part slowly becoming more important and basically taking over sometime during season 3. It starts out slow though. Season 1 is pure procedural.

The characters are all complex, badass and morally ambiguous and the writing is fantastic. If it helps, some people have pointed out that you could sum it up as Christopher Nolan's brother making his own version of Batman.

Also worth noting is that it's the first time I've seen the cast and crew of a non-LGBT show being so supportive of their same-sex pairing. Given the show's tone and body count, there's a fair chance that both women will be dead by the time it ends, but the writing team loves them so much that (and I never thought I'd be able to write this) I genuinely believe they'll try to avoid killing off their queer women.

I love you my like minded friend.

oh god the L word was the..._worst_ thing I ever had the misfortune to try. I've got no idea how people liked that show.

I tried watching it, but I seriously couldn't get into any of the characters from the start and couldn't bring myself to care about their lives. Not sure if that's a realism issue or just a lack of anyone I found sympathetic in the first couple of episodes.

^all of this plus

Oh.... The L Word and Jenny Fucking Schecter...

^mainly this. She's the main character and I couldn't stand her.

I lasted a full...I don't know, ten, fifteen minutes into the series?? I spoilered myself to see if she'd get better and if I should keep at it, but no, she get's worse!

fires up blowtorch

Oh

Side Note

New series, UnReal, deals with a reality TV show Mr. Bachelor thing. One of the contestants is in love with her friend.

So far, it's okay...but let me just say, the "violinist" contestant is abysmally bad. They didn't even try to sync it. I sat here raging at my computer -- she was not even in the right range!! The music is hitting a high 'f' and she's on the bloody G string a gagillion octaves down.

slams head

Y'all could have at least tried.

Thanks for all the help, I updated everything except for Thia's list I think, I'm gonna do that tomorrow. I also plan on adding tags for bad ends tomorrow or the day after, any thoughts on that, spoiler wise?

Well,The L Word is pretty much your basic romance drama comedy, but with lesbians instead of the usual straight guys. So I definitely see why people wouldn't like it.
Jenny fucking Schecter is awesome though, at least after she starts to be really fucking crazy.

Being lazy is my speciality...

About VNs, want all yuri VNs, or just the ones with plot? Want to list untranlated yuri VN? I had somewhere a list I made from VNDB, with virtually all yuri VNs, but I didn't find it, so this weekend I'm thinking about making a new one, so I need to know if you want all possible VNs, or if I exclude untranslated ones and those that are only porn(I have a example if you want to know what I mean).

Torchwood has some yuri in it as welln notably ep. 7. Haven't watched the rest of the series yet.

And yes, I agree, the LWord is horrifically bad. I managed to watch the first season and everyone of then could have died and it wouldn't have effected me - and I'm pretty emotional lol.

No untranslated Japanese ones (there's too many), untranslated ones in other languages are fine, I think. Plot/porn doesn't matter, I'm not here to judge what's worth playing.

I actually think I've played through most yuri VNs available in english but it's a pain to list those from memory alone so I really appreciate your help.

Kitsune:
Thanks, I'll add everything from here on tomorrow.

Untranslated in other languages are rare so it's probably only a few and easy to find, VNDB is a little annoying to make searchs but I discovered how exactly you use multiple tags and filter by language, it's how I made my list, and I'm listing anything with yuri, like for example Fatal Hearts, otome vn, about werewolfs and vampires, but you can say fuck those freaks and escape with your best friend that loves you, and yes it's yuri not subtext, at least from what I remember...

If you want I can give you link to a search that shows all translated yuri VNs, in release order, so you can always use that search to see if there's any new translated VN.

That wasn't my problem. I mean I LOVE romance with lesbians in. It's just from the bits I watched, there was nobody I actually liked, at least not enough to actually care what they did. Turned me off, right from the start.

Particularly, I don't mind bad ends (and actually prefer 'em not to be spoiled... I like when they break your heart) but since some people seem to really despise 'em, I think using tags is for the best.

I don't mind bad ends too, problem is when they're stupid ending...

Perhaps a format where,

Ending Good/Bad?

For the best of both worlds.

Tough to be fair, probably would require too much effort.

Yes, those are "bad" in a different way...

That'd be ideal, but I agree it'd be very time consuming... And, speaking for myself, I don't mind the minimal kind of spoiler that "bad end" would be.

whatwhat

I love you my like minded friend.

Hey thanks ! Fingers crossed they don't fuck up season 5.

OriginalGengar, if you're adding bad end warnings (I'm all for it personally), I'd like to add a few details for the following movies and shows from your list, if it helps :
- Chicago Fire, the lesbian is killed off for seemingly no valid reason
- Los Hombres de Paco, the lesbian storyline has an infamously traumatic bad end, and by that I mean one of them is shot and bleeds to death at their wedding
- The OC, IIRC the storyline is a "girl briefly experiments with a girl who turns out to be a psycho lesbian, girl runs back into ex-boyfriend's arms" plot
- Lip Service was cancelled after two seasons and ends in a weird place. It's not a bad end, but it's bittersweet and not exactly satisfying
- Lost and Delirious, one half of the couple kills herself. The movie as a whole is love it or hate it from the comments I've seen
- Mulholland Drive is really weird and surreal and you basically need to read an analysis to understand what happened, but I am sure that the two women don't end up together
- also can I suggest a warning not to watch the sequels to Skins UK ? Because bad end, again, and the creators were apparently huge assholes about it too.

For a moment I considered suggesting to add warnings for shows/movies where a character is introduced as a lesbian only to sleep/fall in love with a man (as opposed to bisexual women who have both male and female love interests), because that trope pisses me off to no end and pops up all the time, but if you did we'd be here a while. But I did want to mention how much I hate it, just because.

Personally, I think that's too much information, TB. I don't mind the idea of tagging the bad ends, but I don't think it's really necessary to be so specific on the list (tho we do get specific on the discussion itself).

  • Lost and Delirious, one half of the couple kills herself. The movie as a whole is love it or hate it from the comments I've seen

You forgot to add that the other half does end with a man.

Of course, lesbians are only lost and delirious aren't they? As soon as they're found and coherent, they realise that penis.

Yeah, that might have been too much. Just thought I'd try !

I'd forgotten about that part, heh. One woman dead, the other paired off with a man really is the perfect lesbian romance.

But penises are the solution to every problem a woman might have !

It's slightly more complicated than that. Also, iirc, the title is a reference to Peter Pan, but it's been some time since I've watched this movie...

Read wikipedia, ends with a Shakespearean quote, sounds pretentious as fuck. But it says 2001 and Canada, surely they could have made a better show of it?
